I love what Anthony Sweat said about parents being friends. I actually tell my own children something similar. I am not their friend, I am their Mother, and that is deeper and more meaningful. I am a protector, a teacher, a leader, an advocate, a confidant. Children come from their parents, there is a bond there that does not and can not come from friends. The love is deeper and richer.

I say you need never apologize for feeling emotional because of the spirit. The gift of expressing that confirmation of feeling brings us who are hearing it closer to the spirit as well. It blesses us. Thank you. And I thank Pres. Eyring!

Please don't stop this podcast. I love love what you are doing here. I often read the assigned readings. Then listen to your podcast and then go back and make new connections and have new experiences as the spirit teaches me about how to apply this to my daily life. The context and historical content we have learned alone this year through the people you have had on your podcast has helped me deepen my understanding of the scriptures so much. I appreciate all you guys have done this year. Your humility, your love for God, and love for your fellowman have provided a safe place where the spirit is allowed to teach. Thank you for your sacrifice of putting these on. They have greatly enriched my life.

Wow! Great discussion about these books and the temple. I want to give an alternative perspective to kids friendship relationship to parents. I worked with troubled youth for 15 years of my CES career. This was the same time I was rearing my own six kids. I also was a part time police officer. I observed that most troubled youth I encountered did not have a friendship or even a friendly relationship with parents. Even Jesus referred to his followers as His friends. The best kind of discipline for children is to make them your disciples. Parents should always model what great friends do and remind their children that they are their friends, even their best friends. We are always in your corner and then act like it with charity. We will do anything for a friend. J Rose

There is a difference between friends and parenting. I think it's the differences between mercy and judgment. Some friends don't require hard things or faith or discipline. We live in an easy and instantly gratifying sort of world, don't we? Sometimes, hard things are important and necessary, 🤔.

I love listening to your podcast, and I appreciate the insight and advise given. I think it is also important when teaching our kids about loving and not judging our brothers and sisters, to also teach them to trust the guide of the Holy Ghost to discern. Sadly, there are many people who use doctrine to abuse or justify abuse. I understand that may be implied but it is important to mention while teaching our kids that mistreatment is not to be tolerated or condone under any circumstance.

Thank you, let patients do her perfect work, that is so true. I have also been learning about the importance of faith from Come Follow Me lessons, when we know a thing, we no longer need faith and so faith can't have a chance to work on us anymore. I think it was President Benson who first got me thinking about that idea of why is faith important. It's so much easier to do something when you absolutely know everything, but it seems that that isn't the point. The point seems to be were do you put your trust and learning - as President Nelson has said "to hear Him".

Through the Lord's mercies I am not consumed because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, there for I hope in Him!! Lam 3:22-24 God's grace comes through Jesus Christ and hope also comes from the Christ through faith in Him. Glory to the true Christ!!

The Lord literally invests in us. Vestire=to dress (Italian).our covenants literally cover our nakedness who's threads are woven by our Saviour, His atonement.... And Heavenly Father's plan and sacrifice of His best beloved Son. Beautiful

Regarding your discussion of the viewing of Jesus' wounds as a resurrected being, it occurs to me that they are not said to be open wounds. Not still bleeding. I have evidence on my body of many healed wounds. One can touch the places and feel that evidence of pierced skin. Jesus' wounds remained fresh and raw as He perished. Three days later, He resurrected Himself. The wounds remained. The evidence of damage is not destroyed by resurrection. It is perfected or changed in some way because adversity has no more power over that resurrected being as during mortality. And what you all said as well.

Wonderful podcast. Thank you for your testimony Br Sweat. And thank you for openly talking about our Savior’s upcoming return. Our prophets and apostles are talking more and more about it. The signs of the times are clear to those with eyes to see per President Eyring. I enjoy when more members of the church including CES folks also share this hopeful message.
