I think my favorite part of this entire scene has to be at 4:27 when she whistles along to the background score by Desplat. Idk how to explain it, it's such a simple touch and yet it makes me feel all sorts of emotions. Guillermo knew what he was doing.

Nice scene! You get to know Elisa, modest, ordinary girl-next-door. Because she is disabeled and orphan she's used to expect not much from life. But she also, like any other girl/woman likes shoes, loves to dance. What a great way to open the movie!! Del Toro is a real genius!

What a great movie. There were so many emotions driving this movie, jealousy, love, wanting to belong, sexual desire, the need for freedom, the need to conform while feeling the need to break free, acceptance, denial. In the end, I wonder if who was set free more, the creature or Elisa. This movie is suspenseful, lifting, poetic, moving, uplifting and so much more all at the same time.

I just realised when the bus is dropping Elisa off at work, the resting rumble of it sounds somewhat like the creature when he purrs at her, maybe foreshadowing his arrival into her life :)

Watch this for the first time last night I had to admit this opening scene caught me off guard a little bit. But it is a rated R movie, so anything goes. But all in all beautiful film.

Wow has to be one of the best opening scenes ever! I'm captivated.. never seen the film but will soon... she is such a clever and thoughtful person. That painter kind of just said the lines like he was reading a instruction Manuel ha.. but that theatre manager was awesome... "Come on two S's!!!' ha. Such a brilliant look to it.. love the tones and colours and the whole flow to the film, angles and movement from room to room to the bus.. amazing. Purely amazing. now the Film has a lot to live up to . ha but I'm sure I'm gonna like it. thanks for up loading.

So I haven't gotten a chance to watch the movie yet but in a video essay someone showed a scene of Michael Shannon breaking his fingers off. I typed in Shape of Water finger scene and this was one of the first results. Judging by the comments there seems to be a reason why.

That because it’s filmed in Canada. Normally for Hollywood, Canada is the cheapest place to film a movie and it allows directors to save their money for the visuals of their films.

This to me was both a fascinating yet tasteless film. A totally weird movie. I think it would’ve been better if they left out the nudity and sexual content. It was unnecessary.

You obviously entitled to feel however you want about the film. I can’t really weigh in on its quality, I only saw it half-asleep on a plane. I’m more curious as to why you actively sought out clips from the film to comment your thoughts. You made an effort to find the clip, knowing you didn’t like the film, just so you could share your dislike of it?
