Exactly! And it’s not fair to be mad at them either! Hair stylists are not doctors or scientists! And did they tell their passion was researching the source of baldness? No!! They don’t go to school for that, they’re just stylists. They cut hair to pay the rent! Think about it, no hair stylist I ever met has a medical background or studies the source of balding like a scientist would. To know the source of the alopecia problem is work for the experts in the field! You’d have to see a dermatologist or a Trichologist and do your own research to learn.

@@LKB1shot exactly. I don't believe they don't get training regarding abnormalities of the scalp they are even probably taught to recognize what could be a skin cancer and should alert the client of this problem. A child could tell Mommy if he notices a bald spot in mommy's head. The untrained knows that that's an abnormality or something out of the ordinary for that particular person. They are probably the first to see things change because they know our scalps So well. I can't see every area of my scalp but they can and when they know you well they know when something has changed and should alert you. What you do with that information is then up to you.

Same, I was natural for six years got tired of dealing with my thick hair went to a beautician and asked her if it was safe for me to get a relaxer even though I told her my hair would shed like crazy. Do you know this lady still said it would be fine for me to get a relaxer. My hair is horrible now, I have a big circle in the crown of my head that is so thin. Some days I don’t even want to comb my hair because the shedding just brings me to tears. I don’t even know if I have alopecia I’ve been dealing with this for about 3 years but I finally worked up the nerve to make an appointment with a dermatologist.

Some things that have helped to control my hair fall include: (1) I stopped wearing hair ties because it leds to tension breakage. (2) I started massaging my hair and scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while leaning forward & holding my head inverted to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Covering my head while moving out to shield my hair from dust and pollution. (4) Using mild shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.

I went to a dermatologist after I started losing clumps of my hair on my vacation. I waited too long I was diagnosed with Alopecia CCCA and have a black female dermatologist. I was given a steroid cream and go back next month for my 6 month evaluation. The cream hasn't helped. I have been so depressed seeing my hair shed every day. It's so dry and I am applying oil every day. I am going to do a protein treatment because I realize my hair requires not just moisture but protein too. I am praying and being patient that my hair starts to grow back. I still believe in miracles. 🙏🏾

I went to several Black male dermatologist and NONE diagnosed it. Finally a young Black female dermatologist did a biopsy and determined this was the diagnosis. It was too late to stop the scarring. My stomach could not tolerate the oral meds used. I wear wigs. PLease my sisters get to someone that cares and is educated in this. I had so much hair in my youth. It took about 20 years to see the results. Hairdressers are not doing their job. Also, not every dermatologist knows what they are doing. I WENT TO SEVERAL.

Check your iron levels. There may be a connection between low iron levels and alopecia. Also, they keep messing with our food. Ever since the whole gluten thing and other stuff not in the original ingredients we grew up eating, that could be an issue too. It's not just about eating the right foods, but even the right foods have things stripped from it now.

The early signs of CCCA are hair breakage in the crown. My hair constantly broke off in the center even when my hair was natural. Then it progressed to thinning in the crown. As a cosmetologist, I knew to see a dermatologist right away. I’ve been getting steroid injections and a typical steroid to reduce the inflammation and my hair is doing better in that there is currently no balding. However, I do have lots of breakage in the crown of my hair. My heart goes out to anyone suffering with hair loss. I truly pray that a cure is discovered. 🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️

I was diagnosed with CCCA back in 2015 after seeing a black female dermatologist. There are a lot of triggers as to why this disease is affecting us black women. I definitely used a lot of heat and had a lot of chemicals back in the 80’s and 90’s. I’m 55 now and being in menopause definitely doesn’t help. My hair is dry and brittle. Inflammation and stress are the major flare ups to our CCCA along with our diets. Pumpkin seed oil, eating a non inflammatory diet and watching our stress levels are huge. Also check your vitamin D levels. I thank God I don’t have any major bald spots, just a lot of thinning. The CCCA is still active and has moved to the back of my head. I use the cortisone solution to help with the soreness. I haven’t had the injections in over a year. My hair grows and breaks but I’m thankful for the hair on my head and look forward to a breakthrough of this disease for us black women. Praying for your strength each day. 🙏🏾

When you’re younger hair loss is devastating. When you’re much older, in my case, it’s one of those things in life you learn to deal with. I had all the symptoms. Started in my 60’s. I hardly noticed at the time. Now a decade later I had to shave my head. I focus on diet and supplements. And I focus on the condition of my scalp in the crown. The hair is very fine and sparse in that area; but growing back slowly. I’ve chosen to keep it very short - like a little boy’s haircut. I actually like it. Wishing all of you much success in your journeys.

I am in my early 70s and just started paying attention to my hair loss about 8 years ago. My hair was coming out so slowly that i barely noticed it. I had a really beautiful updo with extensions that I kept in for way too long. I went to a dermatologist a year ago and was told I had CCCA, but no blood work or biopsy was done. I was offered injections and minoxidil, both of which I rejected. Now my scalp is dry and itching, which it had never done before, and im losing more hair. I just called for a follow-up appointment today. I pray that I can get some help. Sorry for all the details, but I have been feeling so depressed about losing my hair all day.😢

My crown is still thinner but coming along. The ccca is not spreading. The rest of my hair is much thicker. I also take A multivitamin plus MSM and D3. I made a concoction of JBCO with peppermint, Sulfur 8 , and Vicks. It stimulates my scalp. No burning or itching at all. I massage it in my scalp. I shampoo my short natural hair every other day with mild bar soap (pears) or Yardly soap. Keeps my hair from drying out. Oh and I use sulfur 8 and tap water on my hair. In 2013 I saw a dermatologist (white) who tested me and told me I had alopecia. I didn't believe him! My hair was shredding and wasn't growing fast like it normally does and I summed it up to stress. Earlier this year I started taking it more seriously so I went to a new stylist who's focus was natural healthy hair. She told me it didn't look like alopecia but just aging. I cut my long hair off and started wearing a pixie style. A good hair cut stopped the shredding although hardly no growth was happening. Finally I decided to search for black dermatologists and I did find one but, unfortunately she was over 100 miles from me. I started going to her and I was diagnosed with CCCA. Her treatment are the shots every month and apply some hair serum and an ointment 3 times a week and of coursehair vitamins. It's going on my 3rd month and still no growth and my hair is shredding MORE! My dermatologist said I wouldn't start seeing anything until about 6 months. Lord please bring your miracle. I would love to read about a true success story.

Not all of us have bad hair practices and still experience this type of hair loss after a certain age. Seems to me after I hit puberty the problems started. Thinking positive about yourself u r not alone but what you eat is important. It can gain back but it better. If your but can absorbed the vitamins and vitamins that u are lacking in your body . Keep healthy cloves and ginger rub on the scalp can help in liquid form not boiled. My body lacking of certain vitamins and minerals will not be the same as you. Eating naturally fruits and vegetables are best when they allowed first into the body before less fluid food . Hair loss starts early or late through deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals in our body. Take care of your body early throughout your life. I learnt this in my later time in life so it never too late to start. My greatest challenge is doing at 72 years old but I never give up hope. My hair loss as taught me that eating natural food without preservative is best eating as fresh as you can is important in Liquid form helps. Keep doing this as it helps areas to sprout it you keep it most before sleep. Growth takes places at sleep not in the daytime. Please don’t get frustrated and stress relax and show her hair you love it and give it love with keeping moist at night. Like a tree root it needs vitamins and minerals sand if you allow other areas in the body to heal so will your hair. My hair is recovering from loss but still slowing growing back in the middle that you do not see unless you stand closely at the back except a tiny spot. Keep going not every hair loss journey is the same stay positive and don’t be negative with yourself you alive and feel well stay like this and enjoy that you are beautifully made and that cannot change

Recently, at 55 years old, I saw another KZfaq video like this, and I knew I had CCCA. Visited a dermatologist only to tell me what I already knew. Many women have warned me about the injections and steroids. It doesn't work. I never had any pain, etc., only itching but not severe. I never wore any styles that cause tension but I relaxed my hair through my 20's, 30's & 40's. I went natural in my late 40's. By this time I already had scarring. Searching for a natural way to treat inflammation and slow down hair loss. Praying about what to do next. It's hot and I want to come out of my wig. Feeling fed up. I might as well have fun and play with the hair I have.

What I have learned is that there is no miracle out there that will work for everyone. You wrote "Many women have warned me about the injections and steroids. It doesn't work. " They may not work for everyone. I have no expectations that my hair will ever come back to what it once was. I have a black dermatologist and together, we have been finding what works for me for over a year, including injections. My scalp and hair loss have improved. It's a journey for sure. I think many people give up to soon. A lot has to do with what we put into our bodies and that's my greatest struggle. Don't give up! I'm with you on the wigs; I don't want to wear them again this summer.

Im so sorry. I I know when you get first diagnoses it's so devastating. I also went through a similar process. , I also was diagnosed much later after I lost so much hair. I do believe there might be something to the essential oils and pumkin seed oil. I recently just started a new regimen with including pumpkin seed supplements and massaging pumkin seed oil and essential oils blends on my scalp. I just really started late June and I am starting to see some hair sprout up from my bald spots.However I also got a prp around the same time. So it's hard for me to tell which one is contributing to my growth the most. And also I had multiple transplants, so in theory, my follicles that are growing might have not even existed to grow if I didn't behave the hair transplants. So since July I have changed my diet from vegetarian to pescatarian , I had a Acell Prp, and I added new supplements in my regimen including pumpkin seed pills and also started using essential oils and pumpkin seed oils on my scalp. So I did a lot for these 3 months. I will like to believe everything that I do is contributing to success. I truly believe there will soon be something that can regrow our hair. Also there are multiple ccca Facebook support groups that I am a part of . Where we share ideas of what works, and experiences , etc. Joining those groups have been giving me a lot of hope for the future . I hope you join too. I think it would help you stay motivated and not give up on regrowing your hair back.

I noticed that this illness occurs a lot with black women in America. Here in Europe you hardly see black women with alopecia, very sometimes you do. I wonder what the cause might be. Could it be that the diet is different and/or habits how we treat our hair? I think it's both and probably mainly the diet. We eat a lot of vegetables and unprocessed food. Food in Western Europe is of high quality, but unfortunately with the current high gas prizes, the quality is not what it used to be, but it's still good.

I think the problem it that so many professionals who style hair do not communicate what they see to their clients. I couldn't see the top of my head but the person who saw it every two weeks certainly saw the changes and said nothing. I could have sought treatment sooner if I knew. I think some stylist do not want to lose a client but guess what, mine did. Please keep telling your clients when you see changes in their hair/scalp. More professionals need to be like you.

I need to find me a black germatologist because one I am going to is white and old. He gives medicated shampoo and some oil. I had been having a lot of itchy and one spot in front is getting thin. How about black men. My husband has a bald spot. He does not want to shave all his hair. He does not want to wear wig because of the glue

Neither of the women interviewed look well. Look at their eyes - sort of vague, tired, and unfocused. All this talk about hair loss and giving it some fancy medical name does not address the fundamental question. Why are so many Black women suffering from poor health?
@MCNY7
@MCNY7 Жыл бұрын
Hair loss is extremely stressful. Yes, overall health needs to be considered. How we treat our bodies and what we put into them affect the hair and skin. Maybe the look in their eyes is hopelessness and frustration because they are at a loss for answers about their hair loss. A lot of black women don't eat properly, exercise or see a doctor regularly. Access to good health care is a factor too but there are many things some of our sisters simply won't do for themselves. I've been guilty of the same behavior.

Here's y'all help n thanks to the Most High Almighty Ahayah. 1611kjv#Isaiah 3:16-17,24 [16]Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: [17]Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. [24]And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
