This is the VERY BEST video online for anti-aging hair tips for people who aren't models! Thank you so much for introducing us to your mom and your wife. They are beautiful and have such great vibes, just like you! And I LOVE your Matt Groenig drawing! I have been very ill for over a year and am starting to reach “the other side”. I have done nothing other than occasional moisturizer for my skin. When I finally really looked at my hair, I realize that I have salt and pepper hair that is still more pepper, but the pepper part is a drab looking brown. (I used to get highlights and low lights, but it has been 18 months since I have had coloring.) I gave myself a trim to get the split ends off after watching what seemed like 100s of videos. I am still not considered healthy enough to go to a salon, so I have been binge watching videos for information to help now as well as a “battle plan” for the future. Your videos truly stand out above the others and I have found extremely helpful information here. Keep up the great work!

I am so glad to have understood layering much better, after not only hearing you describe it, but there was a moment, while you were arranging your lovely wife's hair, that I finally GOT that layers do not mean you have to give up creating up styles. I have been so afraid to have layers cut into my shoulder-blade-length hair, even though it is fine, because I like the option of wearing it up. Now I understand better, and have the courage to ask a stylist to layer my hair (a bit) for added fullness, while maintaining styling options. Thank you!

Thanks, Justin, I found this helpful. I've always had a fringe (bangs, as you call them) as I look awful if I show my forehead. I know they're not for everyone, but sometimes I see people with a long face and I think "you could really do with a fringe". And your wife is beautiful - I think she'd look great whatever she did with her hair! 😀

I love you! I just discovered you today. I have learned so much watching your videos. (I binged watched) I’m trying to figure out what I really want to do with my hair. Thanks so much! 🧡

I live in Texarkana, which is 2.5 hours from Dallas. My son lives in Plano, which is basically Dallas. I try to visit often, but Covid has slowed me down traveling. I moved back to Texarkana last year, after living in San Antonio 13 years. It has been quite an adjustment. One of my biggest concerns was finding a new hair dresser. I so loved the one I had in San Antonio. I used her the entire time while living there. How do I recommend to the new stylist your recommendations, without stepping on her toes? I have fine wavy hair, and as I age have lost hair. Again, you are an awesome teacher and I love watching your videos. I think stylists should be teachers for their clients. After all you do a great job and you want your clients sporting your talents, by styling the hair properly. Look forward checking out your next video. Have a wonderful weekend! Love and light always!
@justinhickox
@justinhickox 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That’s another great question I think the best way to not step on the stylists toes would be to just describe what you don’t want and what you do want bringing a lot of photos and just not say things like, I saw a stylist who said this or that etc. etc. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the three bang series!!! I learned soooo much. ( I found you after an apocalyptic 2 months of shut in and too much time on my hands due to cv 19 wherein in the span of 6 weeks I went thru a bucket of bleach from Sally’s, numerous toners and Demi /Semi permanent dyes, after which I got a horrible keratin treatment at a salon 🥶, and then found another (thank goodness for you artists❤️), who managed to root tap and lighten , and cut my 18” tresses to my shoulders and layer ...and Of Course my crown is short ...esp in back where some patches are maybe 1/4” short. My face is somewhere between square and diamond ...large square forehead and widest at temples to cheekbones. My bangs are too straight and too short, but the fact I have any hair at all is truly miraculous. Of course, I hated it for about 6 weeks , however, my 3 daughters all exclaimed how much younger I looked and once the front grew out , I’d be ‘perfect.’ So what did I do but just order $375 in a hair topper and clip in 20” seamless and it looks great extensions in order to try and get my old hair back. I’m so glad I stumbled upon you...I spent countless hours along the way down the KZfaq rabbit hole

Yikes...didn’t mean to post the above quite yet....anyway, it took a long time to find someone who explained face shapes, bangs and what ages a person( I’m 58 in a 24 y/o mind :), in a way that I could actually apply the concepts to myself. ...and goodness knows I listened to some very intelligent folks, but your communication style is On Pointe!!! All that to say a big “Thank You,” fir sharing your extensive experience to save me not only a lot of $, but also start me on a path to regaining my hair confidence. Goodness knows , it was time for a change, but omg what a way to go about it:/! I meant to pare down my diy nightmare as I’m sure you’ve seen worse, but like I said , pandemic shut down affects us all in so many ways. Stay safe and thanks again!

Love the loose pony/ updo idea! Any recommendations for what type of clip to use to do that so it stays up but doesn’t have to be too tight?
@justinhickox
@justinhickox 4 жыл бұрын
I don't have one particularly that I recommend but just think the thicker the clip/band, the less stress on a smaller surface area resulting in less damage.

And those elevators look like the exact ones where I work then you went into your salon and I’m like what the what! I work at the bank directly under your salon! How crazy is that?!!!! I had no idea where your Salon was let alone in the same city as me. Just crazy.

Justin Hickox Oh fantastic 👏🏼👏🏼 I’ll definitely be checking it out. I love the layered look and your wife’s hair is a wonderful length. 🙌🏼🤩 I have very long and very thick hair. Do you ever recommend an ‘undercut’ where they shave or cut close to the scalp the underneath section of hair below the ears? Obviously I’d not wear my hair up very often 😂 But I’m 46 and had the same style my whole life, I’d really like shorter hair but it’s unmanageable this thick.
@justinhickox
@justinhickox 4 жыл бұрын
Megan Harrington I’ve seen people with very thick hair that were super happy with undercuts. The only drawback is the grow out period if you don’t like it. I’d start with heavily thinning the section you’d undercut and see if that helped enough. If not you can always go to undercutting. My normal approach would be: 1. Layer the hair 2. Texturize the ends 3. Thin it 4 heavily thin below the recession to occipital bone 5 potentially move into undercutting. That’s of course a very broad description of those steps but it gives you an idea of the steps id take to start addressing super super thick hair.
@MsHazza73

Justin Hickox ...thank you so very very much. You’ve helped me make my definite decision. I have made my way right down the list and also done chemical straightening. So yes, undercutting it is. The thinning out made a big difference but still feels like I’m wearing a blanket. I would like to wear my hair much shorter. When I saw your wife’s hair I really loved the cut, the layers - and maybe I can achieve this now. I’m in Australia so I can’t visit your salon but I can show my hairdresser your video (and the one coming up) 😂👏🏼 Again, thank you 🙏🏼 😁 I appreciate your time and professional opinion. 👏🏼
