I think you'd thrive in the DMV! I'm biased since I've been here my entire life. Went to Philly for undergrad & it made it clear that the DMV was for me. It's expensive but you are surrounded by so many successful (& young) black people!

You would love the DMV!! Born and raised in DC and there’s so much to do, so many young black professionals here! Yes it’s pretty expensive but it’s really nice place to live especially as a young woman.

I lived in the DMV during college and I LOVED it! It’s such a vibe and there’s pockets of fun and turn up vibes but also really relaxed and chill areas that are great for settling down. I moved to NY for work after school but I for sure see myself moving back there long term - I really think you’d love it, too!

Girl I know I’m behind and catching up but I just moved to Texas a few months ago and my life has gotten so much better! I am in Austin and have nothing bad to say but life does just seem a bit better in Texas! There’s plenty to do and people to meet of all backgrounds and careers. Austin is super dog friendly, emerging in the math/science fields for jobs, even plenty of places to walk/hike/get outdoors and the black community is welcoming and friendly! Hope you pick and find a city to continue thriving in! 🤍

You’d love VA or D.C I’m from pg county near d.c and I live in Baltimore now. I’ve been all over the dmv. D.C is pretty much gentrified now , but VA, more like Fairfax and Alexandria like you said are def better areas and you aren’t too far from visiting several areas around the dmv. Job wise, there are a ton of opportunities, especially since you say you’re in the health field, there are plenty of hospitals & gov jobs. I love it bc everything is drivable, Its so many things to do (food, beaches, museums, activities, malls, music, major events, nearby states.. ect) and places to be. I’ve traveled quite a bit bc of the military and bc it’s a hobby atp, but out of all the countries or states I’ve visited, I always feel more at home in the dmv area. Politically I feel the dmv has always been pretty neutral and sensible. You get to experience all the seasons! I mean I’d say it’s really a great bang for its buck.

Get the Dyson. The V15 is heaven sent!! DMV girl here! Currently living in Dallas and Texas was the best move for me. I actually want to be in Katy, but that’s another discussion. Dallas rent and homes are priced well, but the prices keep going up and because everyone keeps moving here and inflation in general. If you like the heat, Dallas is the move. People are really chilled and relaxed here in comparison. If you want a work work work vibe, DMV is the move.

About the vacuum: I have the same vacuum and there is a filter that you are supposed to clean every month ( just rinse with water, no soap, and let air dry) if not, it may interfere with suction.

As a native of the DMV area, I'd say it's definitely a great place to live, with plenty of activities and easy access to nearby cities depending on your location. It's me pretending we’d be friends if you were to move here! Lol. Interestingly, I've been contemplating a move to somewhere in Texas lately too. You should definitely consider visiting to experience the atmosphere firsthand; you'll find better value for your money in Texas like you said though compared to the expensive cost of living in the DMV!

Plano, Addison, Frisco, McKinney areas are great.. even Richardson is nice and suburban. Traffic is getting bad down here though due to everyone moving here. I wouldn’t suggest Fort Worth area though lol. But I could definitely see you living here, due to the lifestyle that you like to live. And those areas always have the good stuff in Homegoods, Target, etc 😍 Ashwagandha and magnesium are greattt. Taking magnesium, you will sleep so good at night as well. Try out black seed oil 😊

I loveeee vanilla musk! I love to layer it with Tocca Florence. I just moved from Philly to Dallas Fort Worth and I like it! Very suburban, people are fairly chill, price of living is better imo, and the shopping areas are cool. You’d also like South Lake, it’s KOP vibes with a hint of suburban square 😂 they have Aritzia, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc around there. Not sure about night life vibe , a lot of restaurant options tho.

Girl yes Dallas-Fort Worth is the IT place for many. Many young and older come here to settle down and there’s many opportunities with jobs, real estate, etc. I think you’d really love it here. I’m from here and can never see myself leaving. I said that the only thing Dallas-Fort Worth area is missing (for me) is a beach lol we have everything else. When you visit, I think June would be the best month because we do get rain and tornado warnings throughout April and May randomly. It will be hot but not the hottest time of the year.

i know that $20 seems like a lot but i’ve worn mime every single day for the past 6 months and i’ve used maybe 5% of it. it lasts foreverrrrr

My Kid Sis lives in Dallas 6yrs now (townhouse shopping in FRISCO etc). My Big Sis lives in DMV, like forever now (owns in 2 suburbs, Aldie & Alexandria, that she now rents out to families and lives in a new condo on National Harbor) I love both areas 💜 I visit multiple times a year from AL as I’m a Realtor. The weather is a huge consideration of where you’d want to be… more bang for your buck in TX as far as RE. However, in DMV you may find salaries are higher in your field, so it may weigh out.
