I just did the butterfly haircut on my long, wavy hair. And it looked amazing. The tip is to start with small. I trimmed enough to get the beautiful face framing layers without chopping my length off. I'd cut it if I would need more layers but for now, I am good. And yes, I followed Brad Mondo's tutorial.

All the girls who complain after cutting their hair and it doesn't turn out right- might help if they followed the tutorial properly. It's not hard - when Brad Mondo says the front ponytail should be between the eyebrows on the forehead, he probably doesn't mean at the hairline 🤦‍♀️. Just literally follow exactly what he says - and make sure you have hairdressing scissors!!!

@@casebased8391I’m not an expert but what I noticed is that she did not cut the ponytails across very evenly. The damaged hair could’ve affected the end results of the dry hair because it frizzed up making the bad cuts more noticeable. Correct me if I’m wrong because I’m not a hairstylist and this is just a hypothesis (apologies if anything came off as rude) :)

@@FallisLife It looks pretty even to me for eyeballing it by yourself while cutting, but I’m not a hairstylist either. Interesting, I’ve never bleached or colored my hair, so didn’t know damaged hair acted like that. No you didn’t come off as rude, I’m just genuinely asking to get more info because I’ve seen this butterfly cut trend everywhere and have yet to try it on myself. Probably won’t now since it seems difficult for a layman to cut perfectly.

@@YumCastrillo And the front ponytail should be between the eyebrows in the centre of your forehead - not near the hairline. And back one is placed really high and pulled forward to cut it. Makes a big difference.

@@HWarner Exactly, I went full savage with this technique and cut around 20-25 cm of my hair and still didn't touch my full length (waist length). It was kinda scary to see all that hair coming off but in the end I just got layers that start a bit over my shoulders, all the way down and in the front I got a nice frame for my face. Like you mention, the technique makes all the difference.

i have a butterfly cut and YALL I LOOOVE ITT however i already like had a diff cutting where my back hair was longer and my top hair part was short ish, my mom cut my hair from the front of the ponytail (the ponytail in the front of these people) she cut it to my chin because i have wavy/curly hair so now when my hair is dry i turns into a pretty side part where it looks like it has layers idk how to explain it she saw the tut on facebook by some spanish speaking hair dresser

Just go to a pro. Ask for a layered cut with face framing. Ask for v or round layers in the back if you have coarse or thick hair as it will look less choppy and blunt. Done. As an aside, this is my current hair cut and the same haircut I had in 2012😂

People have got to remember hair placement dude. Like, c’mon. You cut the front ponytail too short you’re gonna end up with straight up bangs and choppy short layers with those bangs. Remember HAIR PLACEMENT! Underneath your front ponytail is literally your face framing hair. And the second ponytail, the back is gonna be your longest pieces.. always remember that when cutting hair in a ponytail, butterfly hair cut or not! Not even a professional, it’s just common knowledge if you think it thru first.. literally think it thru just a tiny bit is all I’m saying. Hair placement isn’t that hard to see, where are the front pieces and where are the back pieces that are your longest part of the hair?? Some of these turned out gorgeous and some surprised me and looked good.. while others made me scream at my tv “hair placement people!” 😂😅😂😅😂

Omg girl in pink hair grow up. Style your hair. Go look at the girls who did this successfully. 1. They don't have pink hair. 2. They took some time to wave it or curl it. I did this at home and it turned out perfect because I took some time to wave it.

I have thick naturally frizzy hair or in other words a total MESS and I wish I could have my old hair back (I had thick straight hair before but it started to change as I grow up probs cz of genetics and I have burned my hair before cz I was cooking and the fire suddenly lit up and exploded on my face and I was directly at it so it's Def damaged to since I didn't cut it 💀) . I've cut my hair many times before. At times it looks good like when it's damp but when I dry and brush my hair it's like it was never even there. 🤣 blames brad mondo for ruining her hair 🙈 i could never be friend with these ponytail-cuts. For years i did it bymyself (without ponytail), but for a really goog layered cut we should go to a professional. Think it' s a luck if this comes out well and if you make waves noone sees if it' s perfect 🤭
