Troops from the United States are reportedly in the Caribbean nation of Haiti building barracks and other facilities ahead of the deployment of Kenyan troops to the troubled nation. Caribbean media outlets say the US troops are among the civilian contractors in Haiti to facilitate the stay of about 1,000 Kenyan police officers. These officers are part of a United Nations-backed international security mission to rein in criminal gangs and bring back normalcy to Haiti. The Kenyan forces are expected to arrive in Haiti on May 24, at a time when Kenyan President William Ruto will be on his first state visit to the United States.

This is a massive mistake. The Kenya Police have absolutely no combat experience. What is required here is KDF troops from AMISON, They have combat experience and also have been operating in an urban guerilla situation with many civilians. This is asymetrical warfare ie the Kenyans will only be able to engage when the "enemy" fires first. Also the many civilians in the urban context might result in unwanted casualties. The gangs might use civilians as shields. Lastly the gangs know the terrain. The Kenyan troops have never been to Haiti and have no opportunity for recognition. This will result in a tragedy for both sides.

The countries with oil, gold, diamonds, Coltan, and Iridium are in chaos. WHY? Nearly half the world's gold and one-third of all minerals are in AFRICA. The Congo is Africa's largest diamond producer and has perpetual war. Haiti has gold, gas, Iridium, and other valuable natural resources. Haiti is not the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and has billions in natural resources.

USA has inferred in Haiti affairs for too long by sponsoring coup in Haiti Why is that USA waited for long before entering into Haiti ? Was it be because of the arrival of troops from Kenya and other countries that put USA to shame made them take such hasty measures of building barracks etc? What has been USA contribution to the destabilisation of Haiti?

Remember the warlords who reigned over Somalia in the early 90s? It turned Mogadishu into hell on earth. It was the backdrop of the movie Blackhawk down. Once America left, Mogadishu remained a living hell for decades. To see Kenya stand up and volunteer to help stop Haiti from becoming another Somalia gives me hope. You should trust Kenya to do the right thing with the entire world watching them. Port Au Prince will become Mogadishu if these gangs aren't stopped.

The criticism of this mission will only increase as this police force starts coming into Haiti. One thing I noticed already will receive criticism. American contractors have arrived to build "temporary facilities" for the upcoming police to live and work out of. Notice the word "temporary." When this mission is over, those temporary facilities won't last long. Haiti needs permanent structures to be built for their use when the Kenyans and others leave. That's where " mission creep" come in. The Haitians will say things will just go back to the way they were without "Nation building." When the police force arrives, where are they going to keep prisoners? Can't use the Haitain hell-holes. Does Haiti have a judicial system that can handle all those accussed with crimes? What about medical care? You can't just send in medical equipment and set it up anywhere. If you don't build the required facilities, the equipment will become unusable junk in time. This is mission creep, and my guess is the Kenyans will simply tell the Americans "we need more support/money!" Of course, money is going to vanish into thin air once it's out of our control. Soon, mission creep will become out of hand.
