Riki is obviously jealous. Julie is acting as surrogate to Cheria - very sweet. Julie had to administer a few slap-downs to naughty Riki. Poor little Cheria must have a sore head from Riki slapping her all the time. This is getting fascinating. Thank you Himawari - please show more.

For a surrogate mother, Julie is awesome with Cheria! So protective! When she gets bigger, I hope she gives Riki a few pays backs. Wow! He's gorgeous but he's got ants in his pants and he's so curious to the point of hurting Cheria. Julie decks him pretty good but it's a shame they have to share so much time together. I sure hope they don't sleep in the same area. They'll never get any rest! Great vids, himawari! :)

Dana East Riki has been hitting poor Ceria from day 1 and still is. Riki is so jealous but now its even more than that.

I love these videos but would really appreciate if someone could translate into English each episode please :-) where did this new mother and baby come from?

I can't translate but I understand your wanting to know what's going on. The orangutans are Julie, Cheria (2 yrs-new addition) Riki (4 yrs) and Gypsy. Cheria and her mother Valentine are from Yokohama Zoo. Valentine is at Tama to get parenting lessons from the experienced moms at Tama. Apparently she was hand-raised and didn't really learn how to take care of babies. It's interesting that they don't know by instinct. Gypsy, Julie, Chappie and Kiki have I don't know how many years of parenting experience.

QueenMab thanks so much for your help. I agree they are interesting I love their personalities would love to visit sumatra or borneo to see them in the wild because they are amazing animals and a joy to watch :-)

You're welcome. I see that Tan Rion has already mentioned the GAIN network. Tan Rion is also the poster who has helped me before and explained the addition of Valentine and Cheria to me. I had no idea what was going on until he/she answered my questions. So I thought I'd pay it forward and try to answer your questions.
