Muslim pilgrims on the annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia threw stones on Tuesday at pillars representing the devil in a symbolic casting away of evil.
After spending the day at Mount Arafat, the pilgrims headed to a desert plain called Muzdalifa to collect pebbles to use in the ritual in Mina.
They must throw 21 pebbles at each of the three 25-meter pillars that represent the devil in a symbolic rejection of temptation. (AP) #hajj #saudiarabia #news #voanews

its not like they _actually_ do something. obviously it goes without saying its not like there is an actual tangible _flesh skin and bones_ devil, sitting in there, taking up physical space, getting hit by the rocks. its purely psychological. apart from religion and superstitions, many people do certain things that may not actually physically accomplish anything meaningful, but gives them mental comfort and relief. some people fidget with their hands or with other objects, or talk to themselves or walk back and forth or do deep breathing exercises, when they're nervous. little children suck their thumbs etc. idk, im not particularly religious, but i do have anxiety sometimes, whatever works for u i guess.

عندما يكون الدين عبارة عن خرافات بشرية تتنافى مع العقل و المنطق يرفضها الانسان العاقل ، و لكن عندما يكون الدين حق مطلق ، بل و يعجز الانسان عن مجاراته ، حينها ليس بوسعنا الا ان نصدق ، هذا هو ايمان المسلمين، في القرآن الكريم الكثير من الامور التي تجعل عقل الانسان يبدو صغيراً جداً و قصص كثيرة ، ومنها ما تراه في هذا الفيديو، اذهب واقرأ اولاً، يبدو انك لا تعرف شيئا حتى ربك و لماذا انت موجود.

@@waterlily5670 Tbf, human solidarity & respect for your fellow man is important...and with all due respect, all organized religions are nonsensical enterprises predicated on myths & superstition. You're entitled to believe what u want, but when unfounded claims of the supernatural are made, then it's deserving of mockary. All religions are fair game for ridicule.

Me, Because they do, religions we're created for one purpose which is to control the people, making you behave as they want so you're easier to control, and if that doesn't convince you, let me ask, how can you possibly know which religion is the truth? There's hundreds of religions and variations of religions in the world what if you chose wrong ? Saying that you know your religion is the true one because reason A and reason B isn't proving anything because people from other religions would say the exact same thing, and there's so so many believers in the 5 biggest religions you can't possibly expect that many people to strongly believe in a religion that is obviously wrong from your PoV.
