Gotta admit, the guitars, drums and everything is pretty chocolate cakey. Bass drum is perfect, not a cockroach-to-windscreen-"bass" drum but a proper one, with punch and air. Snare cuts through just the right amount most of the time. Still, I'm missing actual ringing toms in modern metal music, but I guess they take it out because it makes the mix muddy or something? But seriously, the toms' ring doesn't cut through at all, as if it was just 100% taken out deliberately. I mean, if the toms are played 3 % of the time, why can't they just ring like they should, I don't get it
@chrismills7703
@chrismills7703 4 жыл бұрын
@@nenissaK Sorta answered your own question. Sure maybe he only plays the toms 3% of time overall, but its not like he hits one tom every thirty seconds or something, he hits a bunch of them all in a short period of time like in a fill or something like 2:15. All that ringiness would just get in the way and clutter things up real quick

Out of the whole song the part at 2:35 is just perfect, the way everything accentuates and plays off the other. I just saw Haken live with Devin Townsend and they blew me away. The bad part is that after he intro it was more of a "i want a single" type of generic metal band (straight out of roadrunner type of band) and less of a modern prog metal band with sparkles of old prog...as they came put in the first albums. Heither way....i whish them the best as an full album has "space" to fill all of the purposes and they already done more than enough for the genre to do as they please.

The direction that the director took is just phenomenal!! While also using the theme “yellow” on there is just a plus. The story and the music just fit the actual story behind the song so well. Man this is coming to be one of my favorite videos of 2020

Cool seeing them embracing their heavy elements. They killed it for sure. I do miss the mystical sounding softer dynamics from aquarius, visions, and the mountain, and I sure hope these guys have years together to go back to that side when they're feeling it. For now, enjoy the brutality.

I love nearly every Haken song, both old and new. But they have said that the album is their most eclectic to date and that it bridges the story from Vector to Cockroach King. I've got a feeling we'll get some Cockroach King callbacks and "weirder" songs!

This whole album flows so smoothly, each song is unique and diverse from the next while also being diverse within the song itself. This album is one that's hard to not listen to just one song and move on, I want to listen to the album front to back each time my setlist pulls a random song from it. Haken, you guys are awesome!
