The day we pointedly asked our former pastor, a five point Calvinist if he believes Romans 1:16, he gaves us a flat out "no". That was the day we walked out. And yes, he was a really nice guy.

Sad but a true reality.. But there are faithful pastor s to God's word just like you Steve. 👍

Surely ,if they are not rightly dividing the word of God they are not believing the word of God .one of the things I find very hard is the way the bible is watered down and the using of para phrasing eg the message bible it should not be called a bible

Romans 3:4 KJV.......it is true for us who believe....but the greatest majority of churches are full of unbelievers....sadly ,tragically...that is why to be ambassadors FOR Christ is a priority ...2 Corinthians 5 KJV......people need to get saved first and then study the KJV according to 2 Tim 2:15 KJV ....

I can so relate to this. Recently a new family moved into town and was asking for suggestions (on social media), on where there might be a good church to attend. Many people responded as if they were the salesperson for their church. Some of the "selling points" were some of the ones you brought up, friendly people etc...

Then the word 'viper' is not the same as 'serpent', but it is a kind of serpent. " A serpent can just be a subtle or malicious person. The pharisees were subtle, they convinced Israel they were who they probably claimed to be. Just like false teachers today. Just like says Romans 16:18(KJV)"For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." I mean false teachers seem to be able convince a lot of people today that they are what they claim to be. Which is crazy.

The one I hate that they say is ask Jesus in your heart. So, I said that’s unbiblical! I The pastor happened by and decided to go into the classroom. I showed them Romans 3:25. Went back and I may as well had a bad disease.
