Nathan, by taking her hands, with that small gesture, signaled to her, that she can trust him with her heart, that he will care for her as a precious jewel. Yes Maria , there is a mystical thing that takes place when the heart receives true love , it's invisible and it's not tangible , but it knows beyond a doubt that it feels wonderful and no matter how we put on a false face , and try to deny , that lies behind the " mirrors the windows , the eyes, and often times when we are least expecting it to be , love will manifest itself from within towards the outward , a beautiful surprise ! Elizabeth is a beautiful human being , who cares much for her fellow Hope Valley community, her students and she loved deeply which can shatter her spirit , and after enduring the loss of her beloved Jack , her emotions are too mixed up for her to handle well at the moment ! Her bizarre change in her character this season is a result of this loving too deep., speaking very harsh and nasty to Rosemary and Nathan is contrary to her true self , and speaking to Ned slowly helped her to see things a bit better , and the advice she gave Ned's daughter , is really coming from her heart , and Ned ' s daughter touched deep into her rational.soul.and said " Elizabeth you if anyone should understand because you experienced a great loss ! That reached her deeply and she admitted " yes I have " ! Erin said earlier on in a podcast , " to put on your south slueth caps and try to catch the clues and the subtle hints , and just because your favorite character it appears as he has the better hand at the moment , don't take it as such because it will be a roller coaster ride , and not until the final episode will the " one sided triangle will be resolved " ! Far too many times they show the saloon owner " intently looking upon her and Nathan conversing and it's kind of immature and strange ! ( jealousy ) The saloon owner has evolved from.just an opportunist businessman , he said that he is a gambler and he can read a person easily, and he is the type that is used to getting his way , and each time he sees her with Nathan , it disturbs him.! He has 100% gotten all of the quality time with her but still Nathan is the third cog to the puzzle ! This shows that surface things, flattery , and tangible things are fleeting , momentary , and like adolescents , it will end in heart break and heart ache ! It looks as if he will remain a gentleman and have a heart filled talk with her and realize that having fun.wirh each other and wining and dining , wooing , is not the same as what' s in the heart ! She was falling for Nathan way before the out of town trip., and She was anxiously waiting for Nathan to be more aggressive in pursuing her , unbeknownst of the secret that held him.back but, ....now that the cats out of the bag , he is taking off the gloves and is not taking no for an answer ! If she doesn't choose Nathan , and the friendly thing between Hikam.and Fiona , it would be wonderful if they wrote it where Fiona and Nathan could become good friends ! She cannot have a polygamous situation , so it's one episode remaining until the finale , and it won't surprise me if they go against the book and the school teacher / Monutie ending ! The bizarre thing is had she wanted that kind of life with a gambler , a charmer , a manufactured love , then she easily had the opportunity with Billy Hamilton and Charles from.Hamilton ! This will.be a bizarre ending , and there has been a lot of fans that have said , they will not be watching it anymore , I won't either unless they write Nathan Nathan yo have a friend , perhaps Fiona , because she right now is a far better character , fun , energetic , loyal.to her town and friends , business minded , courageous and brave , as she was the only woman that helped at the explosion site , and she is incredibly beautiful and really gorgeous ! What man would want a physical.woman but , her heart and soul is with another man , and that goes for both Nathan and the saloon owner ! Right now with Elizabeth 's emotions too mixed up and shes using fear to run away from.what her heart yearns for , to trying trying to make herself believe that an infatuated friendship is true love , she is causing herself further heart ache after the manufactured fling begins to dissapate ! My only critique of her character this season is that the writers transformed her into an immature woman-child, portraying her as a player of hearts, a gambler of sorts. How is that in any way likeable or more importantly, honorable? A character need not be perfect to be a good character; indeed, a perfect character is a false one because perfection is found in God and God alone. But Elizabeth trifled with both men this season and that, that cavalier attitude of hers is what has turned many viewers away from her. It is never permissible to toy with someone's heart. If she felt confused and overwhelmed by her feelings for both men (although the interactions with Lucas always seem over the top and unrealistic) she should have excused herself and taken some time to honestly self-reflect on her own. On her own, being the operative words. But she didn't. I've read comments from Team Lucas fans who claim that Lucas is a patient man, but they need to see beyond the obvious from Lucas. Yes, Lucas is outwardly patient with Elizabeth for now...because he's investing himself in her, wining and dining her, trying to woo her with all the obvious displays of personalized attention, in the hopes that she'll reciprocate. But she won't reciprocate. Lucas does not make her come alive. Lucas does not draw out the dormant passion in Elizabeth. And Lucas is not truly a patient man. No, his patience is a kind of practiced focus. It's calculated discipline with an end goal in mind. Real patience has no ulterior motive, real patience is long suffering because patience itself is its own reward and virtue. And love, real lasting love, cannot be bought, manufactured or forced. The love of a man and a woman does not come about out of a feeling of obligation or gratitude. No, the love of a man and women is borne out of often undefined and not easily explained reasons, part compatibility of values, part complimentary of temperaments, and part free flowing, heart racing magic. Nathan and Elizabeth have the often undefined and not easily explained reasons that give way to such a love. But Nathan certainly was the noble of the two this season, whereas I cannot say the same about Elizabeth.

I agree 💯 Heather. I'm to the point I don't care. This Journey is about Elizabeth going through her lost of Jack. I'm glad Elizabeth forgave Nathan. They are both free. I'm enjoying the storylines. I'm not picking side. I'm just tired of the hate of characters and actors.

The show is much more than the love triangle but most of the time Hallmark promotes only the love triangle,they have pushed this down people's throat for publicity,asking people regularly which team they are,playing with the emotions of people with the photos they release and the comments they make. People have been so invested that they will react accordingly,a lot of people are going to be very angry and will have to go through a grief process : some for the loss of the future couple they had in mind and others for the loss of the show entirely. I would just say people need to learn the lesson and try not to be so emotionnally involved no matter what is being posted on social media to trick them because hallmark will always post something because they want people to talk about the show.

I wouldn’t stop watching either but I’d be very very very very very disappointed if it’s not Nathan and Elizabeth. I would want a scene by scene explanation of what they were thinking and a great storyline for Nathan’s happiness next season. Brian bird has said to trust them they know what they’re doing but man oh man they are killing us.

No such thing as a TRUE fan Heather. There are those who are fans of the show, those who are not, and those like myself who just think it's cute to watch. Admittedly though I was among that crowd who wanted to be on either Team Lucas or Team Nathan and you are right about it having nothing to do with teams. Both Lucas and Nathan are good men but Elizabeth chose Lucas and that is that since the show is about her journey. Besides... from what I've been reading online there is a possibility that Nathan could find love with someone else but I guess we'll just have to see.

To live running from what's inside the heart is sad and tragic , and as many has , have and will.continue to do, try and " mask or cover up that which hurts " instead of facing the fears and admitting to the truth ! It's easy to run away, and embrace a " safety blanket " which is a false sense of security , and it is only a temporary fix , and once the fix detetiorates , the problem.and the pain will.remain ! Elizabeth is someone that came to Coal Valley ( Hope Valley now ) in search of adventure, discovery and she wanted to be a school teacher and be of help and service to humanity , she is young and came from a life of opulence and shes well bred , and is a genuine good human but still.she is young , and she doesn't have " worldly or street sense, and that experience with another charmer Billy Hamilton showed her humiliation , anguish and it was a bitter pill to swallow ! She did not plan on meeting her soul mate ( Jack ) and her being young she loved deep perhaps too deep and it nearly destroyed her after Jack died ! Anyone that understands grief , severe pain of the heart , they will surmise that often times people will gravitate towards a safety blanket , to escape momentarily from the pain but it's at when people are at their most vulnerable that it will either " make or break " the individual ! She is prone to flattery and tangible things as most fantasies bring , but once infatuation wanes, and the cold harsh reality of real life returns " Boom." Look out , a fragile spirit will be crushed and it will take a long time to bounce back ! Elizabeth has found a momentary respite from facing what is eating away at her resolve ( Nathan ) the saloon owner told Nathan that he should stop pressuring her , because he sees it's whats blocking his plan , but All is fair in love and war , and now that the fort issue has been put aside , Nathan should keep the pressure going until her defense finally breaks down and she runs into his arms again but this time for good ! Dreams will take you far but....childish infatuation and fantasy will only end in someone gettting severely hurt emotionally and mentally ! That kind of hurt csn actually end with death., but not in this case , just heart break ! The gambler hopefully will see the light and move on but remain in good friends ! Fiona and Nathan might be the ones that seals the deal., one way or another !

Remember when Nathan came into the school and presented a plaque to Elizabeth which said “always do what you are afraid of” written by Emerson, I think that the writers inserted that as a clue as to what was going to happen with regards to Elizabeth in a later episode which happen in last weeks edition, she appears to be coming out of her shell and realizing that life is for the living, she’s at a crossroad and must make a decision on which suitor would be the best choice for her and little Jack, as far as I am concerned Nathan is the best choice, but I don’t trust these new writers this yr, I fear they are setting team Nathan for a punch to the gut, I just can’t picture little Jack crawling around playing on the saloon floor, let’s hope for the best, besides there’s just something about Lucas that makes me feel he’s not on the up and up, he’s all about himself and is money driven, not a family man type in my opinion!

Allie got to know Elizabeth as her teacher, and on a personal level because she went above and beyond to help her adjust and make friends in HV. Knowing her and liking her personally, plus seeing how much her Uncle Nathan likes her is how she became involved. I think it was unfair of Lucas to blame Nathan and to use that to tell him to back off of Elizabeth.

The only pursuing I have seen this season and the other 2 seasons is Elizabeth always finding a way to seek Nathan out. When it comes to Nathan that woman is like a heat seeking missile. I have already said the writers and producer have been leading us team Nathan fans on. Nathan never had a chance. I don't believe there have been any red herrings. This season has all been about Lucas and Elizabeth and I sadly believe that's how it will end. Now they want us to believe the tide is turning in Nathan's favor but I don't buy it. She has forgiven Nathan and absolved him of his guilt about Jack but I fear this is only paving the way forward for them to be friends. Wow, they have missed a chance to tell a story of a love so deed that most people can only dream of.

Allie does not have a quiet disposition. She observed what was going on and essentially inserted herself by doing the things that she did. From what I've seen none of the adults encouraged her to do anything.

Hearties as much as I hate to admit it, I think her heart felt apology is setting it up for her and Nathan to agree to only be friends. She has unfortunately already chosen Lucas and by having Fiona tell Allie that she likes fishing they are moving to a Fiona and Nathan pairing. They all have been misleading us to believe that Nathan ever stood a chance. There have been no red herrings. I really hope I am wrong but the writing is on the wall.

I'm rooting for Hickman and Fiona. I don't know why. We will have to wait to see how it goes.

Why would they allow Nathan to admit his love for Elizabeth twice already in such desperate, raw aching form only to crush him in the end? With Lucas, the magic between him and Elizabeth is not present. It's all so robotic, formal and planned. She smiles and giggles like a giddy school girl, he compliments her, she thanks him. No, I just don't see it. It's forced. With Nathan, the magnetic attraction and push/pull between them is palpable; it is off the charts. Yes, it is more slow moving and caught in the every day rituals but that's exactly how it should be. In addition, Nathan and Elizabeth have hard conversations that often lead to moments where they become more self-aware, more sensitive of the other person's feelings. The relationship between Elizabeth and Nathan is a mature one (not without its conflicts) between adults who push one another, who challenge one another, who anger one another, but who ultimately have the common values to build a future life together. Both Nathan and Elizabeth are family and commitment oriented, whereas Lucas is a restless one...

Lucas has been a complete gentleman this whole time and gave Elizabeth all the space she needed. Hes been kind to her and given her so much and not pressured her this whole time. I'm pulling for Lucas all the way but I am afraid it's gonna be Nathan.

I wouldn’t call him controlling. He clearly has reason to feel threatened because Elizabeth is running away from her true feelings. I do like Lucas as a character (who may or may not have a shady past and can grow) but for some reason I just don’t like him with Elizabeth. I think Nathan and Elizabeth is the greatest love story. I think Lucas was needed to lead Elizabeth to open her heart. It just sucks for him though I hope he gets a happy ending as well. I see the parallel with Anne of the Island. The heart wants what it wants and the show is called When calls the Heart so it better be Nathan!!! I really really hope it is.

To much deception towards Lucas is how i feel. Plus i am not a fan of Nathan as a lead. (my loss) I loved jack. This is just life. I have watched since the beginning and i know that the show will do well without me as a fan. The hallmark writers dragged this out, and should have did a different approach if it was nathan. I have a feeling if ultimately the writers went with Nathan, I think Lucas would step back and let Elizabeth go. I dont know, i can imagine that rom com cliche where the other guy stepped back because he knows that she is more attracted to the main guy. Or probably Elizabeth is not going to choose in the end. I somehow hoped that two new, outstanding women arrive to town and took Lucas and Nathan away. They deserve better.

Mary Neall I don’t think that she gets a comfortable feeling from Nathan - I don’t think that Nathan reminds her of Jack! She is always BREATHLESS around Nathan because her feelings for him is very strong and overwhelming! She is definitely not comfortable around Nathan because he brings such strong feelings out in Elizabeth. You can see how she has a hard time breathing around him. Nathan is nothing like Jack. They just happen to have the same job. There are similarities(honorable, protectiveness of others), but Nathan is definitely not like Jack.

Yes, it truly was a waste...because it did not advance the storyline in any good way at all. The climax happened at the end of last season...but instead of taking that as the turning point, the writers made a wrong turn with the writing of Lucas and Elizabeth this season. What an absolute waste.

That's why i dont like love triangle because when it's not your match, you can dislike the show after. And its too long and a waste of time. I am team lucas and i feel bad for him because it's obvious that Élisabeth is in love with Nathan.

I will stop following WCTH if Elizabeth chose Lucas because the writer is trying to change the story of the book.

I agree. I’m team Lucas as well. The last scene could go either way. I believe she told Nathan she didn’t hold him responsible for Jack’s death but feel she’s going to say her heart belongs to Lucas. All remains to be seen. Whoever she chooses, the show will go on and there are a lot of storylines possibilities still to come. Loved the wedding and that his daughter changed her mind and accepted it. If she chooses Nathan, Lucas will bow out gracefully because he loves her and wants her to be happy unlike Nathan who won’t bow out easily and has stated as much. I noticed too that Allie played up to Fiona so she may change to wanting her for her uncle now. I guess we’ll find out next week!

It's a win/lose situation. I would never watch a show to see a lead that i am not fond of, and the person i liked have a broken heart. If it were N they should have not did the soap opera approach.

Wow! Excellent analysis and 100% spot on! I could not agree more with your observations...Lucas is only outwardly patient because he's forcing himself to be patient in the hopes of winning Elizabeth. It's not his natural bent to be patient without wanting something in return, whereas with Nathan, it's simply an extension of who he is...he's patient because that's part of his temperament and part because his job demands that he not act impulsively, without thinking.

I thought that same thing every time he looked at his watch, and we were only talking minutes--so how patient is he.

The Valley of Decision? Ahhhh...that is an actual movie...with Gregory Peck and Carson Greer from 1945. Do you know the movie? If not, you would love it! A romance of the best kind between Peck's character and Greer's character. And the actress (Carson Greer) was 12 years older than Peck too...how fantastically forbidden!~ But yes...Nathan is end game. Exciting!

I am.not a team saloon owner fan and I don't have anything against him.either , but why have they purposely had him situated nearby each time Elizabeth and Nathan has a conversation , and that's jealousy and some What creepy ! When he left town for about 2 months after seeing her run into Nathan's arms , that shows immaturity and it's puzzling seeing that he is a " worldly man " a gambler that plays for high stakes ! He is mother said that he is the type that bores easily and after he gets what he wants , the thrill is gone , and he doesn't stay in one place for too long ! Running into Nathan's arms, riding off deeply hurt after leaving Nathan standing telling her that he loves her , and deep cry and the look of anguish on here face . it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out ( she loves Nathan very passionately ) with no real quality time with her at all, and the many tangible gestures made by the saloon owner towards Elizabeth , she having fun ( as she said to Rosemary about the saloon owner ) but she says she's with him.at one moment but when Nathan comes around , she has doe eyes ! Soft charmer words , trinkets ,, candle light dinners, flowers and gifts are only tangible but that mystical.bond between the hearts of Elizabeth and Nathan., it's just like breath , you cannot see it but it's real and it keeps our heart warm., they need each other !

@@eugenecrenshaw808 I love your analogies...Elizabeth has doe eyes for Nathan...she sure does. And Nathan's eyes go soft for Elizabeth too. He has fully and completely given her his heart. For what other reason would a man willingly risk his heart if not for the uncontained love that wildly, recklessly, without abandon beats just for her, for his beloved Elizabeth? And you're right -- Love is like the breath you take...you need it but you often can't see it. And...the passion between Elizabeth and Nathan...she awakens a desire in him and he in her...it is simply undeniable.

Lucas chose to pursue Elizabeth. Her vulnerability, fear and grief pushed her toward Lucas, but from the first episode of season 8, she showed her feelings for Nathan. However, the fear and pain of losing Jack was too much, so, she went with what was easier even though she knows that Nathan is who she wants and needs. Lucas seems to get what he wants..Not this time.😀

I totally agree. I know they said there would be twists & turns, but building a relationship with Lucas for 2 seasons & then rejecting him, just boom, isn't a twist. I'd feel bad for Nathan but he's already been rejected & it's been his choice to keep going after her. It's so hard to try to guess what will happen in the end because everyone says the writers should follow the books so Elizabeth would end up with a Mountie, but maybe it's time to deviate from the books so the storyline will make sense. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that she stays with Lucas in the end.

@@blanchejones8115 Please Elisabeth has to be held accountable for once.If she was so fragile she should have told Lucas that she is not ready and set some boundaries with him,but she loves all this attention that he gives her.It is always someone else fault when it comes to her,it is not right.I don't like how things have been written.

I also did not like his comment to Elizabeth about going to find out why Nathan hadn’t told her as well. I mean if Nathan had actually killed jack or conspired to make him go in his place or had insulted Elizabeth or something..sure, go demand answers for your girl but in this instance it made zero sense to me. Although him saying “and he’s only told you this now?” is in keeping with the times he threw Nathan under the bus in front of Elizabeth to make him look bad like when the guys were planning jesse’s bachelor party and in the Christmas episode.

He annoyed me when he brought up his concern for Allie...back off with Elizabeth sounds more like his concern. I mean really, no one is going to be more concerned about Allie than Nathan, so how dare Lucas say this to Nathan. I was ticked off, too when he wanted to talk to Nathan about Jack...all I can say is, I am so glad Elizabeth told him no.

@@alicepahler7610 Exactly! Nathan would die for that little girl. It took some nerve for Lucas to say something to Nathan about it. I think Lucas was very compassionate with Allie and that was appreciated. But again, he wanted to make Nathan look bad. You know Nathan would never do anything to Allie to make her be conflicted about Lucas or Elizabeth. But kids see and understand more than we think they do. Team Nathan!!!

What if Elizabeth was in danger and Lucas wasn’t there watching, and if no one was around. It’s kind of a good thing that Lucas looks out for her. He loves her. That’s why.

Lucas is a schemer of sorts. He's not upfront but pretends he is not operating in his covert way when that is exactly what he's doing. He's a sly one that Lucas. Our girl Elizbeth better wake up and see past the flush of flattery.

@L K Well, she ran to him and hung on for dear life in front of God and everybody at the end of Season 7! Lol!!! And then held onto his hands at the party. I think the town has grown use to these two. 😄

Not to mention despite Nathan saying he's fighting for her we have yet to see him seek her out. She keeps coming to find him. People want to say he's pressuring her but she asked him to give her an honest reason and that was his honest reason, he fell in love.

It would be a twist if E at the end starts fighting for Lucas!

As soon as she touched his hands it took me back to when their hands touched picking up those books in the look between them was Unreal. I think there's a connection there ❤

I respectfully disagree. I see the connection she has with Nathan. I see the longing between them. I see the looks they gave each other before season 8 when all this flirting with Lucas started. I saw Lucas and Elizabeth sitting beside each other at the wedding but they were not holding hands. She was touching her wedding band and was looking at it. Lucas was watching her. He sees what is going on now. Hopefully we will all see Elizabeth choose Nathan in a couple of weeks. But whatever happens I hope they will eventually be friends and there will be some healing from this bizzare love triangle.

They haven't been together much this episode because last episode when he asked her what did she say to Nathan when he told her he loved her and she said nothing just walked away. Lucas was hurt so he's giving her room to make her decision which he has told her he would. They weren't even talking together after the wedding. But I am still TL

I think Lucas is scared too. He mentioned Allie and think that was because that would have an impact on him. He's running scared because he has seen so many times how Elizabeth reacts to Nathan.

But he did lean in for a kiss the very next time he saw Elizabeth after said she needs things to go slow, he did pout about her making it clear she doesn’t want to hold his hand in public leading to her agreeing, and he did tell her it’s not her duty to be worried for Allie (which doesn’t concern him at all)...I’d say that’s definitely pressure if you think of Nathan expressing his feelings (when asked mind you) is pressure :)

Lucas is the one pressuring Elizabeth not Nathan. Nathan spoke what was in heart. Elizabeth always finds away to be in Nathan's presence. Lucas on the other hand is spying, going to her house asking questions, standing on the balcony looking to see who Elizabeth is talking too. He has showed up at door early in the morning to take her horseback riding knowing she had class. How many times has he taking her and Jack for a walk or ride? Never!! It's like Jack does not exist. Nathan does take time for him even though it is short due to the circumstances at the time. Elizabeth and Jack are package deal. Lucas is interested in a beautiful woman and whining and dining her. I believe in season 6.. Lucas told, Elizabeth that, he was not ready for kids. I believe this will be one of the things, that will cause her to choose Nathan.. I know it would be a deal breaker for me.😀

Poor Lucas has been at the bottom the entire show, but i am still team Lucas until the end!
