Jennifer, you are an amazing parent, advocate and teacher to many! Having worked with differently abled children and adults I can tell you this: The skills you teach “little man” now will stay with him throughout his lifetime and he definitely feel’s your love and acceptance. He wouldn’t feel safe to be himself melting and otherwise if you hadn’t demonstrated your undying love and acceptance. You are his champion. Keep it up mama you have this !

Hi Jen. I saw your headbands on Instagram. You did a great job. I have never been very good with the floats, but yours look great!! Your Juju is just like my daughter. Her and I have been joined at the hip since her birth. It broke both our hearts when she went to university in British Columbia. We live in Ontario. Her course was only offered there, so off she went. We couldn't wait for any holiday that would bring her home. Today she is 29 and is a fine adult who is caring, generous and an amazing person. I have been told by numerous people over the years that I did such a great job in making her a fine human being. Not bragging, just so proud of her and her accomplishments. As she gets more involved in her job and young adult life, she still connects with me often and we love being together. You have so much to look forward to with your Juju. I grew up with a brother somewhere on the spectrum. So I can totally relate to life with a child who is special. My brother lives a very independent life and is doing very well. He is now 64years. The future will be bright for you and your family. Have a fabulous Labour Day weekend. ❤

You are doing a great job Mom! Keep up the good work and hang in there! Take it 1 day at a time and if needed one moment at a time. I learned that 9 years ago Aug2014 when I was diagnosed with Leukemia and had to try and help raise 2 boys from a hospital room. My husband was such a huge help, but I have always been the one to help with the homework, and my oldest had ADD and youngest ADHD. Both of my boys have grown into fine young men and serving their country in the Army. Oldest is active duty and previously worked full-time at Home Depot. My youngest is in the Army Reserves and working as a meat apprentice getting ready to go back to college in January. So proud of them and proud of the work you are doing with your family!

It is always so good to see your videos and listen to what your family has been doing! I just recently found a few channels on KZfaq that keep me company (I'm a 71 year old mom, grandma & great grandma with grown, busy children). You are usually my company every morning while I'm having my coffee. I feel that you're like another of my children and were discussing what's going on Thanks Jennifer. ❤

I am still raising a 31 year old special needs child. I was 16 when I had him and we have been through the blender! He almost died 3 days after I brought him home. We then spent the next 18 years mostly living in hospitals because of his disorder. He hasn’t been hospitalized in a long time now, but he thinks and acts like a 15 year old with ADHD. He also has memory issues. I say all that to let you know you are not alone 🫂 I cried for years wondering ‘why it had to be this hard’? But you have raised an amazing young woman in JuJu. And Little Man is amazing Jen, and all this is positive proof that you and Mr. Cinnamon are making the right moves for your family. 🥰 I love the hats.

Yes being a Mom of special needs adult child is very stressful tense and upsetting but they, she, makes my world so bright and I love my daughter so much. She's severely autistic non verbal she is 30 but a 2 to 3 year old I can not imagine my life without her. Be proud you were chosen to be a mom most our kids never get what ours have.

Juju is like you because she learned from the best...YOU. I think I have adult ADHD myself because I can be doing housework and suddenly stop to go sit and crochet or I'll start in my kitchen, go upstairs and begin putting clothes away or cleaning my bathroom and my son is definitely ADHD. He can sit maybe 5 minutes doing something like picking up Legos and all of a sudden he's coming downstairs and heading outside when he's not in school. I also have to remind him to eat because he'll have dinner in front of him and start talking, forgetting to eat. You're doing your best and have done awesome with your nieces I'm sure and also with your children. Big hugs from Ohio and the Ellison family. Keep being you Jen and remember to never give up. 😊

Love listening to you, for me it’s like hanging out w/a friend just chatting abt life honestly. You are so open and real and that’s one of the reasons I subscribed too your channel. Bay, I’m a grown woman and if my mom made us eat everything she cooked, I would have starved to death, but she was the most wonderful caring mom ever. She knew I was an extremely picky eater so we’re some of my sisters, so she cooked many different dishes. Omg, every time I speak abt her, it makes me miss her even more but, she’s in a better place resting w/the Lord. Keep up the great work Jen, you have done a wonderful job raising your children and you’re still doing it so I take my hat off to you my friend for opening up your heart and letting us in.

Love your content, my eldest is autistic, deaf, adhd and he is almost 21, and wanted to move out and went to group home. When you said how hard it is, I started to cry. No one understands unless you are there I was the parent that got yelled at, and it is so hard. I miss him so much, but the hardest part is when people tell me how happy we must be or how much better it must be. Today I needed to see this, bc I cried. I know this is so over sharing but your content really helped me today

Jen, I have a 19, almost 20 yr old daughter that is exactly like JuJu. Girl! We are so blessed to have daughters like this. They are a rarity for sure. My Taylor is on her 3rd semester of college. She is going to be a doctor of phycology and wants to write books on child phycology. We are kindred momma's! Love your stories of the kids. I am 60 and had Tay at 41. 44 is an awesome age to have a 18 year old. But I'm rocking 60 too! Much love, Kare

Yes, I understand what you’re going through. ❤️ My kids are now grown, but I’m the mom of 3 boys and the oldest is ADHD, the middle had weight problems, and the youngest was special needs with a number of issues, which included sensory and OCD. I’ve been at Disney with them and have been stared at and judged by others. Sometimes people would comment, but I know these days people are much worse about making their opinions known than they were back then. Hang in there. It does get better. You are doing an awesome job and you’re raising kind, loving, compassionate kids. ❤️❤️❤️

I raised my godson from the time he was 5 months old until he was almost 13 and I TOTALLY understand what you go through with Lucas. My godson was diagnosed at age 3 as ADHD but as he got older I knew there was something else going on. When he was 12 he was finally diagnosed as being on the Spectrum as well. Special needs childrens brains are wired differently, from conception, they dont respond to typical, regular child rearing and only people who have 'lived' that life can understand what that child and those parents are going through!! I admire ANY PARENT or caregiver who is raising a special needs child! Smile! You are doing the very best you can under the circumstances. Love ya, Girl!!❤

I have a friend in Pooler, GA, she moved from TN to there so she could be within driving time of Tybee. Love the ear warmers, the pumkins would be cute with the faces done in glow in the dark yarn. You talk about it to help you cope too, mom's need to vent occasionally too. Jen I am not an MD but I have several family members who live with hyperactive disorders and some with different degrees of autism and I would have to agree you so many, many characteristics of hyperactivity disorder, but you appear to function well. Love you Jen, God bless, be safe and saty well.♥

This video actually did feel like we were just sitting chatting and lots of stuff helped today. My eldest is autistic as well as adhd and others, and I suspect I am but getting adult diagnosis is a nightmare here. But I'm also a respite carer for a highly autistic little boy, just to give his mum some down time. He is the sweetest little boy but does have his moments and I've also had judgey mums shooting me evils. Most of the time I can brush is off because I'm focused on getting little man out of his melt down, Friday he was having one and there was a mum of a small child who said at the top of her voice "God I hope my kid doesn't grow up like that". Now I heard this, and got rather upset, still trying to calm little dude, then another lady, said to 1st woman to basically shut up because a) little man was obviously autistic and therefore b) this mum (I mean I'm not but never mind) was doing her best. Lovely lady chatted to me for a bit.

I have two ADHD boys and I know exactly what you are going through. He acts up with you because he is trying so hard to keep the lid on that when he gets to you he lets it all out. You are the one person who will love him unconditionally. Hang in there. My boys are grown and they are wonderful human beings. Also try HAMLET (hungry, angry, meds, lonely, excited or tired). These are the triggers and he can tell you which one(s) he’s feeling. It worked wonderfully with my boys. We avoided complete meltdowns because they could tell me what’s coming. 👍

My daughter is 21 and they are just now getting her diagnosis including possible Autism. It has been a long road. We are raising our 4 year old grandson. We were told by CPS that we had to go through all the court stuff, guardianship and such and very soon adoption. He has a lot going on that I am trying to deal with. It is hard when you are a 2 person team but only 1 person steps up on the medical side. Anyways, before I cry to happy stuff! Back in May my 21 year old daughter, myself, and my 4 year old grandson went to Disneyland in Anaheim to celebrate birthday's and Mother's Day. My daughter bought the tickets and paid our hotel room so we could go down the night before. She bought my ticket as my Mother's Day and my grandson was a gift from his auntie-my 21 year old daughter, for his 4th birthday and her 21st birthday! We got there just as the park was opening and stayed until closing and then I drove us home over 2 hours! Got my first pins to start my collection of my favorite movie, Beauty and the Beast. Next up, Knott's Berry Farm!

Hint for the color work head warmers: go up a size or two in your needles, then go back down when you are done with the color work. Also, wool yarn will stretch a little better than acrylic.

Maybe one of the dogs could wear the warmers as neck warmers, as long as they wouldn’t chew on it. I read somewhere that when kids fall apart when they come home from school it means that they are in their safe place and you are their safe person. They know you will love them no matter what happens.

Yes it is a conversation! Ally of listening and sending hugs your way! My so is 49 and they did not know how to handle him in school! Still now he looks normal but still has issues. I have watched him get hurt so many times in relationships with girls. He right now is in a relationship with a woman who is 5years older than he is. She is ADHD also so maybe this will work! Lord knows how many prayers I have said for him. You know! They do strike out at you because you are their shield! Love you stay strong! Sincerely Janey from NC

Happy 1st Birthday Bentley. Halloween headbands are cute. I watched the blog on Lilo n stitch. You and Juju both have some nice pins. It's awesome how you and Juju have a great relationship. You are incredibly lucky to have such a daughter who also is a friend. Yes, your relationship with Lucas is different and more difficult, it's alway difficult when having a child that is considered different, what ever the reason. I'm sure you have days that you feel like you failed, or that the struggle is just more than you can handle. I get it, in more ways than one. You are doing everything you can do. You are diligent with all you do for him. His school, his doctors, even his home life. You make sure he has what he needs no matter what it costs or what kind of toll it takes on you. You, just like the dad you tapped on the shoulder, are doing a good job, you got this. The fact that you talk about it not only helps others but it is also helping you. That pent up pressure, stress, sadness, hopelessness, when you get to talk about it, it helps to release some of the build up. I know I don't mind you venting or talking about it. I listen, I hear, and I feel. Breath, breath, breath. Hugs.

Even if I'm very careful and catch all the floats and try to make them loose, it's still too tight. I've decided that next time I do stranded knitting, I'm going to go up a half size for the stranded rows and back down for the solids. Crossing my 🤞 fingers that it works.

Jennifer I have learned so much from you. My granddaughter has been diagnosed with moderate ADHD and I’ve been helping my sons raise he for 4 Years . She also has been diagnosed with PTSD from her mother and her younger brother was diagnosed with autism stage 1. I’m the only one she attacks but I understand and try to talk to her. She’s 7. The middle girl and baby boy seem to be ok. If it wasn’t for you I’m be bald. I’m 72 and learning at your hand, so to heck with the nay dryers take care of yours your way.

Being a mom of a special needs child is not and I mean is NOT for the weak. My daughter is going to be 22 and she still has moments where she needs me to hold her, she’s had meltdowns at work and in over stimulated/over crowded situations. It was worse when she was younger and she’s gotten better with age but it’s still interesting. So you’re doing your best with him and he’s amazing. I love the headbands you’ve made this week they are so super cute and I’m willing to try them in knit

Having a 29 yr old that's on the very very low end of the spectrum and not knowing till he was 17, its important to get tested. We were told he was ADHD and ODD. It wasn't till our now 17 yr old got his DX that all of us, even him, questioned his own DX. So he asked his therapist to have him re tested. So when our daughter at 4 started showing those ADHD signs, I never bothered having her officially tested because we would have to go an hour from where we live and at the time that didn't work. My doc told my mom when I was 5 I was 'hyper active', which we know now that's ADHD. While our boys thrive in structure, our daughter thrives in chaos, which makes living in the same house really difficult.

My daughter was just like little man. People do not understand that she could put her finger in a candle and does not feel it. She is 33 now. She has learned how to control it. You are doing a great job. Don't let anyone tell you different.I remember how it was and praying for you and your family.

I just have to tell you how much I am learning from you about little man's issues. My husband thought he was a bad child when he was/is ADHD. All you tell us has been great for me to understand what my husband has been through and is still going through. Thank you just doesn't say enough.

Hi. Relatively new viewer. Heard about you through Jayda's channel and been watching ever since. I enjoy hearing about your experiences and I'm there with you on the wanting to be diagnosed. Unfortunately, my GP's not on the same page. Hope your days have sunshine in them somewhere!

My Mum has strict guide lines for her food and clothing. She will starve herself if there is nothing she likes. She was in the hospital for three weeks and lost 50 pounds because they didn’t give her what she liked. Is she was in a senior home she would die quickly. It is so hard to see it in family members . I truly get how you feel with your son. I am my Mum’s caregiver and there are a lot of “ those days” where nothing you can do seems to help. You are doing a fantastic job. He is brilliant and can be in school which in itself is a success. Wish more people were like you! I have watched your show but don’t comment often but yesterday was one of those days with my Dad. I was the one that had the melt down because he was being so selfish. I am my Dad’s caregiver as well. So I totally get your son’s perspective and yours. I really hope you have a great day!
