Hallstatt: The PERFECT Salzburg Day-Trip! [Austria Vlog] 🇦🇹

Hallstatt, Austria is pretty universally recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in the world, so we came to see why!
In this vlog we rented a car & went for a little day trip through the northern region of Austria near Salzburg. During our day we visited the meadow used to film Maria in the opening scene of The Sound of Music, drove over toward the Eagle's Nest to eat lunch, & ended by driving to Lake Hallstatt to visit Hallstatt. It truly was a day we'll never forget, & we're so thankful that we filmed this. Thank you so much for watching & we hope you enjoy!!

Driving in Austria is amazing. I did so over the summer and it was beautiful! Hallstatt was awesome as well. best way to see Austria is by car!

Hallstatt is mind blowing and one of my favorite places in all of Europe! We only spent about a half a day there and wished we would have spent a whole day there it was so beautiful. Definitely dedicate a whole day. We also decided to spend the money to rent a small boat to go out on the lake and we always talked about that being our best memory of the whole trip to austria. It was so beautiful out on the lake looking back at the town. Since your video title was Hallstatt I was expecting a lot more video about Hallstatt but you barely even showed anything or said anything about it. It appeared you were not there for very long.

Thank you so much for watching Brad!! We definitely didn't spend nearly enough time there relative to how long we wanted to. While we were there we talked about trying to find time in the future to book a few days stay in Hallstatt, so that we could make a large, comprehensive video on the town because there's SO much to do. This is definitely something that we're learning along the way & will certainly square away in the future. Thanks again so much for taking the time to watch our video!!!

That's awesome dude!! Was it the small little church in Hallstatt?? I was walking around the church looking at pictures of the people in the congregation & was just like 'man, I wonder if these folks know just how insanely beautiful this place is' LOL. One of my goals now is to spend a week or two in Hallstatt to try & get a feel for the locals there. It's got to be such an interesting lifestyle between all the tourists while also having a village feel on the lake.

Thank you so much Michelle!!! It almost didn't even seem real at times. Our favorite season is the fall & while most days aren't always like this, the ones that do make this season the best of all. Our dream is to find a place in the southern hemisphere that has this type of fall-time beauty & just chase it every six months!!🤣 Thank you so much again for watching & for the kind words!!

Great Video of my home ❤ Reg. the little wooden boat (called "Plätte"), they are actually used as a ferry if you go by train and arrive at Obertraun ;) its the more relaxed, traditionell and beautiful way to arrive at Hallstatt.

You have an absolutely BEAUTIFUL home!!! We seriously love that part of Europe (as does literally every other American🤣). We plan on coming back, so we will definitely make sure to arrive that way next time!! We love taking ferries, ESPECIALLY if they're rustic & makes us feel like we've gone back in time! You guys came at the best time of the year when the leaves change and fall displays its beautiful colors. I wish I had known you were visiting Hallstatt, I live not too far from that wonderful place, it would have been great to finally meet y'all in person but with all your travel plans I realize that would be impossible. That would've been so awesome Eddy!! We're planning to come back around that area exactly this time next year since we'll be back in Europe so we can get together then!! We loved our time there though. It's incredibly beautiful. The drone shots honestly don't do it justice!

Man I remember seeing Will Norton come here after he graduated & from the moment I saw his pictures I knew I had to visit one day. It's just out of this world beautiful. One of the highlights of the year for us hands down!!

Isn't it STUNNING??? We couldn't believe it the entire time we were there. Some places just leave a mark on you & this place certainly did that. Next time we come back we're hoping to take a dip in the lake!!🤣

Hi! Honestly, we didn't have any troubles parking. I would recommend definitely going on a weekday or going early in the morning if you visit on the weekend in order to make sure you get a parking spot, but we had no issues parking at all. Amazing video! A quick question though - how did you get to Maria's Meadow via car? I'm hoping to do the same but can't seem to find an address.

Hi Alison! So oddly enough, the place in our video that we visited was on Google Maps as Maria's Meadow. However that's since been removed for some reason. But the location is in a town called Werfen called Picnic Meadow!! If you Google Maps that when you're there then you should have no problem. are there any toll roads along the way from salzburg to hallstatt? if travelled by car of course

Hi! So we didn't encounter any toll roads during our entire day of driving around the region. I normally set our GPS to avoid toll roads automatically though, so I'd definitely recommend doing that if you're looking to do this trip as well. Hi!! Great question!!! So I just checked Google Maps & the place that we parked was called Parkplatz P1. It's next to a hotel called Apartment "Marie" Halstatt & a campground called Campingplatz Klausner-Höll. The parking had some spots above ground as well as a large lot below ground. We parked downstairs & had no issues at all with parking. PLENTY of spaces on the day we visited. If I remember correctly, prices were 9 euros for 3 hours or 15 euros for the entire day. Hopefully this helps you a bit, & have an amazing visit!! You're going to LOVE it!! And thank you so much for watching our video!!!❤️😊

I think you solve the problem of Maria by marrying her off! We try to get automatics on the continent, Edward is fine with manuals but I’m less confident!

That's EXACTLY right!!!🤣 We've only gotten a couple of automatics all year but man have we been appreciative of them when we got them. Trey can handle the stick shift pretty well for the most part but I'm DEFINITELY not going to attempt it🤣
