the best thing about the gravemind talking in poetry is that its doing it on purpose. as revealed with the lore with cortana that it can talk regulary. it just talks in poetry just to be dramatic and thats just hilarious.

For me, they were the original zombies/hivemind Halo was my first exposure to a lot of sci-fi concepts and it's still my benchmark or 'measuring stick' for everything science fiction There are literally 10s of thousands of these stories from people who grew up with halo but damn, the nostalgia is so powerful it gets me all foggy eyed and teary

"Silence fills the empty grave; now that I have come, though my mind is not at rest as for questions linger on." the Gravemind's poetic way of speech is absolutely astonishing and pleasing to the ears. The tone gives me goose bumps as the words send chills down my spine; a thrill I can enjoy in horror and amazement. Me being a poet and writer myself, I adore his halo 2 scripts. I enjoy quoting some of his many memorable sentences and using it for inspiration in my own work. Some of the best poetry I've heard and read.

I love the Gravemind. The most "goosebumps" I get is when It says it has beaten fleets of thousands. Consumed a Galaxy of flesh and mind and bone. I absolutely love that part. Sometimes I'll have nightmares of the flood and they're the most beautiful, desperate, and insane nightmares I've ever had. Like a literal sea of unholy forces standing in my way coming in like a flood. Infected forms and beings climbing over eachother like a tsunami. I love everything about it.

One thing I love about the gravemind is how he rhymes when he speaks, I get the feeling of true evil especially since I read Macbeth back in school, where the characters that spoke poetically are evil and I get the feeling of pure evil from the gravemind and that is y I like him so much as a villain of some sort

@@siy4545 According to the developer commentary it was to wind up Jason Jones, Bungie was also obsessed with the number 7 hence speaking in iambic pentameter. There were also 7 installations and monitors with the monitors number being made by having the number of the installation before to the power of 7.

Interesting but, I noticed alot of people heard him say "come" . But the in game subtitles say "gone" . I assume his speaking of the ring he was on "Silence fills the empty grave now that I have gone" "This is not your grave, but you are welcome in it" . Just an interesting thought

It's surprising because it makes little sense for him to say "come". The Gravemind is gone from the grave, thus the grave is now silent: its _mind_ has vacated it. It can even be taken to be a rephrasing of Descartes's _cogito ergo sum,_ if we were so inclined to theorise. I guess some commenters weren't paying attention, or were perhaps too stunned by what was on display to think clearly. This certainly was the most memorable bit of Halo 2 for me the first time I played it, back in the day.

Neither Xbox nor First Person Shooters are even remotely profitable in Japan. Halo is barely even a thing there. The only reason Halo Legends happened was because Microsoft and Warner Bros paid the studios to do it. I’d say the demographic that writes doujin and the demographic that are Halo fans probably don’t intersect.

Where are these people getting “come” from? He is saying “Gone” cause he left the ring, referencing the “grave” he dragged chef into that wasn’t his. But he was welcomed. “Gone” also rhymes with “on” and he always speaks poetically. I’m genuinely confused how many people are mistaking “come” with “gone.” I’m not trying to be mean I’m just genuinely asking where these people are getting this. Lemme check CC just in case.

Pretty much because the humans were stupid enough to dock the In Amber Clad near the Library making easy access for the flood to infiltrate and infect everyone on board. They then used it to slipspace jump inside of High Charity completely avoiding the exterior defense fleet which you as the Chief witness happen. That’s exactly where you can pinpoint the immediate damnation of High Charity.
