This project I give credit to Mike Yamamoto for his brilliant idea www.bay-net.org/uploads/1/2/2/...
to work with pvc pipes and fishing rods for the elements.

Well done and nicely built. I built a 20M delta loop for portable work last year and it worked FB. However, mine was built with the apex on top attached to a 30 ft extendable mast. It was fed 1/4 wave down from the top which gives you the best radiation pattern for DX. 73, Marc, W4MPS

@@VE3DAL There's only one minor Thing I would change for my portable usage that's the Polarization. I know this is easier said than done without Elevation Supports like Masts or Bushes. The Feedpoint needs to be way higher up from the Ground to become a flat Radiation Pattern to get the Waves over the Pond or across Europe If I use your Antenna on a high rise Building with 50+++ Floors downtown Quebec City then this harmless looking Things becomes a real Flamethrower. You did a great Job for sure Almir. 73 de YFUG

Almir it was great to see your homebrew delta loop, and hear it on the air too! I recently bought a well made one from a radio rally here with 4mtr slot together lighweight aluminium poles to extend the height, with a drive on plate . I have put it together in the back yard once and it looks a beast, but not had time to use it yet! However having a reasonable homebase station I never tend to go portable, but you have given me hope that mine will work just a well as yours, and I might need to try it out soon. mine has telescopic fibre poles, with the wire element inserted through it, and it is fiddly the 1st time erecting/ and retracting it! Cant wait to try it out now, thanks to you lol!! Good luck with it, and your portable ops, hope to cu on the bands de Colin G0ujk.

Hi Colin, thank you so much. I'm sure when you get yours up and running you will enjoy just as much as I did. I wish I could setup at my QTH but the height can be a problem for me. So what I did for the winter I setup a Moxon antenna horizontal at 15 feet high, the down side I can't rotate but it works great the direction it is. The Delta loop and Moxon antenna are my two favourite antennas these days and will be for a long time. Another thing it didn't cost me much at all. I hope to hear you on the air, best 73's de VE3DAL Almir

@@VE3DAL Tks for your reply Almir, I also have a moxon in my loft for 12mtrs fixed on usa and it does a great job when 12 is open. Thinking about making a half square now! for either 30 or 40mtrs they seem to have good Directional gain abt 6db. lol

I forgot to ask you how long was your wire for 20 meter Delta loop antenna at the cottage? I was going to try 1005-5% then add a couple of inches. I will have the feed point at .25 wavelength . also I'm using 450 ohm window line,4:1 balun. My hardest chore is finding 45 degree pvc elbows!😮😅
@VE3DAL
@VE3DAL Ай бұрын
My is at about 68 feet and I have to adjust every once a while. I never used a window line yet maybe in the future. I'm sure you can find the pipes online, good luck.

How did you connect the wire to the tip of the rods? Thanks, looks great and very light and easy to put up and down when needed . Is the PVC sched 40?
@VE3DAL
@VE3DAL Ай бұрын
Hello, I used a small 4 inches zip ties to secure the wire all around the fishing rod including the tips. The wire is 18 gauge and pvc sched 40. Thank you 73's.

how would you make the antenna vertical polarization with the horizontal leg of the antenna on top.
@jamesabc372
@jamesabc372 Ай бұрын
Also I read somewhere the 1005 should be 4 or 5 % less maybe like 967/3 legs.
@VE3DAL
@VE3DAL Ай бұрын
I elevated the feed point about 18 feet with a mfj mast and the other two corners of the triangle at the same height with some help of trees that gave me the horizontal polarization.
@VE3DAL

Yes if you use speakers wire like I did is about 5 percent less but never the less you still have to do some tuning after.
