@@VE3DALyou could see if you can receive 2 meter signals and not transmit for now. Listen on FM and ssb if possible. I used to do a lot of 2 meter ssb. I could reach out to max 400 miles.

So Ive been reading 15 ft low point for the 40 meter loop. So I was thinking 7.5 ft for the 20 meter loop. I read too high increases the lobes and weakens the main lobe. What do you think,Almir?

I think this way of thinking it works better if you have a free environment around, if you don't like myself at home it will pickup a lot noise level like s5 s7 where I'm.

Almir, I plan to put up a vertical plane 20 meter Delta loop antenna fed with 450 ohm window line. I know you used a 4:1 balun. I was thinking maybe I should use a 9:1 balun with the 450 window line? What do you think? Also I want vertical polarization. The horizontal will be on top V configuration.

Like I said I never worked with window line yet and I heard that the window line can't have any type of metal close by to work properly, that would be an issue for me. I'm also planning to put a 20m delta loop where I have the 10m loop instead.

I forgot to ask you how long was your wire for 20 meter Delta loop antenna at the cottage? I was going to try 1005-5% then add a couple of inches. I will have the feed point at .25 wavelength . also I'm using 450 ohm window line,4:1 balun. My hardest chore is finding 45 degree pvc elbows!😮😅

My is at about 68 feet and I have to adjust every once a while. I never used a window line yet maybe in the future. I'm sure you can find the pipes online, good luck.

If that is a 10 meter Delta loop it's probably too high. L.B. Cebik w4rnl wrote an article: Notes on all band use of vertical -plane Deltas. 😮

You may be right. Before I had this loop just about 6 feet above ground and the SWR was flat. Now at this high the SWR is not that great. I will check his article, Thank you.

Your 20 meter loop at the lake should be about 10 feet lowest point. 10 meters loop maybe 5.5 ft or close to that. Good luck and have fun! Emir. 73!😊

The direction is front and back but also works with some side radiation as well. Sometime ago I deploy horizontal using some trees at the cottage and worked even better than vertical. I will try that again when ever I have a chance. Let me know how the 450ohm line works for you. 73's my friend.

Hello, I used a small 4 inches zip ties to secure the wire all around the fishing rod including the tips. The wire is 18 gauge and pvc sched 40. Thank you 73's.

I elevated the feed point about 18 feet with a mfj mast and the other two corners of the triangle at the same height with some help of trees that gave me the horizontal polarization.

Yes if you use speakers wire like I did is about 5 percent less but never the less you still have to do some tuning after.

When your swr is high, it comes back inside. 2 ferrite beads are almost useless. You need about 10. At 15 ft up the swr shouldn’t read 9:1. The 10m wire is too short. Closer to the ground should read longer due to ground. I would re measure again

Did you take any chokes you? I see you have chokes on the antenna side. So check if you if you have a usb cable that is rf protected. does it drop out if you transmit at lower power? How does SSB work on ten? is it distorted or cutting out? That might give you some clues. I have had similar problems.

I had a ferrite sleeve choke at the feed point. I had the same problems on 10m with a yagi that I built. This weekend I didn't have a chance to make contact on ssb 10m but with the yagi I did a few dx and it seems to be ok but again not on ft8 mode.i will try a different USB cable or attached some ferrite choke on the cable. Sounds like some kind of rf problem getting into the computer. Try to add an rf choke on the rig side of the antenna, and add ferrite cores to the cat control cables or audio cables. Hope that at helps. Enjoy your Ham holiday. 73 K1QS.

Very nice. I'm almost finished my 6 band version. Once that's finished I'm going to make a 3 band version for 15/12/10m. As you say all support ropes need to be identical as do the spreader arms so it all constrains up correctly.
