Hello folks!
Namaste!
Here comes the 6th episode of #HamaraTejas, anchored by Dr Kota Harinarayana & me. This programme is exclusively targeted at the youth of India -- 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th students & young professionals.
In this episode, Dr Kota takes us through the Iron Bird and Brake Dynamometer facilities of HAL's fascinating Division, ARDC. Along with ADA and other stakeholders of the #LCA programme, right from inception #ARDC played a very pivotal role.
In this episode we also get you the glimpse of the simulator at ARDC. This episode is close to 44 minutes and hope it inspires you folks.
Hope you folks are enjoying the #HamaraTejas series. The responses we are getting are truly moving and overwhelming. We value your feedback.
Please do remember to tell others about this channel and the series. Stay safe. Stay inspired.
Thank You.
Jai Hind!

The 6th episode of #HamaraTejas will be premiered here tomorrow (18 Nov) at 9 pm. Owing to my other schedules, I have uploaded the episode today with the timer set for Thursday release. This one is long and with different modules from HAL's ARDC. For the young fellows, this episode will be an eye-opener. Pl do spread the word about #HamaraTejas to your friends. Thank You. #AKM

Heartfelt thanks to Tarmak Media n Dr. Anantha Krishnan, Dr. KH and the senior leadership of HAL ARDC for the marvellous video . This video is a big eye opener for the layman public like me. You learn to understand and appreciate the complexity in design, engg and test of a world class fighter plane. It was wonderful to get to see the ARDC test facilities. Hats off to everyone involved! 👌👌👌👍👍👍

Good to see the "unsung heroes" , as you put. I always believed that the LCA programme wasn't just about the Tejas . It has developed a whole aircraft building ecosystem from scratch . Something which we never had . Good to see the HAL transform from a licensed assembler to a full fledged manufacturer of world class warbirds with cutting edge technology .

What a display of wisdom, patience and sheer determination by these heroes. Hamara Tejas has added high levels of respect beyond the clips of air shows and seeing the final product. It does feel that this is world class ecosystem that is built ...and was understated all this while. May science and people who work tirelessly always rule this country. Jai Hind

A couple of suggestions. 1. Please do drill-downs of some of the technical challenges mentioned. These should have enough detail to motivate engineering students to see where, and how, the theory - especially the math - they learn in the classroom, gets applied. 2. Dr. Kota in his initial years as an engineer would have wished that he had paid more attention to some subjects, or that some were specially useful. He could explain them for the motivation of engineering students.

It's fascinating to learn about the carbon brake dynamometer developed for Tejas and how technology developed for Agni missile and forgings from BHEL helped. I want to learn if there is a way to synergize between various DRDO labs so that technology developed for one project can be effectively used in other projects instead of reinventing the wheel again.

Dr Kota has to be taken for a sortie. Why is he denied ? When politicians , celebrities get a chance to fly the Tejas , why not the designer Dr Kota. In his place I would have surely yearned to fly. How much yearning would a man behind the project have. Govt should immediately facilitate the same. Looking at Dr Kota's enthusiasm, I think he is very much missing his years over there. Surely he would be ready to work even now. Hats off to people like Dr Kota this country is going in the right direction. Our fighters will one day be the envy of the others. Jai Hind. 👏👏

Hello Sir, One of the defining works that was done with respect to Tejas was with regards to CFD. I know this topic quickly becomes very technical, but it was the CFD software specially created for Tejas which played as much or even bigger part than the Iron Bird in the making of Tejas. I was sincerely hoping you might want to take up a challenge and make an episode on CFD which no one in India has ever tried to even explain before. Kind Regards, Sudip

Sir I have a question for Kota sir about the story behind the design of Tejas. Why did ADA went for compound delta design because at the same time-frame other countries who had developed jets of delta design were adding canards for extra performance & maneuverability as per their requirement from close coupled to free floating? As Tejas mk2 will have canards why ADA didn't placed it initially? What was the thought process behind that, do they wanted the basics done & perform iteration in design as time progressed in later variant and went with a safe approach as working with canards can get tricky as it is a difficult design to master?

IAF wants HAL to prove their capability, now they achieved, so that the money for the other programs like MK2 and AMCA is getting picked up. It is democratic country where we can easily blame one without any understanding.

Companies like Dassault, SAAB graduated from delta wing aircraft such as mirages and draken to canard delta Rafael and Gripen and you want HAL/ADA which had no previous experience of designing a fighter jet to design canards delta??
@imslimshady

@abinmohan3675
@abinmohan3675 2 жыл бұрын
Simply because there wasn't enough space. The initial plan did include canards but that was made when kaveri was undergoing development. When the engine was replaced with the American one, HAL had to make compromises on some of the design
@amruthamshukp4612
@amruthamshukp4612 2 жыл бұрын
i would say, if controls and maneuverability could be achieved without canard its goes out for better option. Adding canard makes complex flow regime, in some case making it more unstable as well as per my understanding .

Great stuff. Suggestion: interview some of the young graduate engineers and mid level managers working on the project.see what their experience has been, how their has evolved, what they think the future would look like. Dont fall for our age old cultural flaw of creating personality cults out of top bosses. They did well no doubt, but they didnt do it all by themselves, the ownership is collective, we should hear out from everyone.
