UN Resolutuon 181 of 1947 made provision for a 14,000 sqkm independant Israel state, and a 11,000 sqkm independant Palestine state. The 5 arab countries involved were not interested in establishing a Palestine state, and attacked Israel on 15 May 1948, the day after Isreal received its independance. Israel win that war, named Nakba, and claimed 75% of the 11,000 sqkm of land that the arabs did not want as a Palestine state. Dont come now and cry "occupation"!
