Months into Israel’s Gaza offensive, Hamas’ armed wing Al-Qassam Brigades launched a barrage of missiles at Tel Aviv on May 26. As Palestinian group launched missiles, it prompted sirens to sound in Tel Aviv for the first time in four months. As per Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigade, the rockets were launched in response to “Zionist massacres against civilians”. Following the attack, the Israeli military said that eight projectiles were identified crossing the area of Rafah and had received no reports of casualties. Israel’s offensive against Hamas has led to Israeli attack in Rafah, causing an international outcry. Israel launched the operation after Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7 killing around 1,200 people. The latest attack from Hamas comes days after Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh made his first trip to Iran for the funeral of late President Ebrahim Raisi. During his visit to Iran, Hamas Chief Haniyeh met Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
