No man. To me 2021 was the biggest in how F1 has lost its identity and it’s rigged. Some of the drivers especially from the new generation were just banging their cars, throwing them around like Max did in Brazil and FIA was saying “racing incident”. Unfortunately, for the sake of more viewers and Netflix drama that they wanted to create the destroyed the elite racing sport that it was. As for the rigged part I won’t comment so many mistakes that were made in many races. The back and forth talks between RB and Massi where they were negotiating what to do. Only the last race was enough to show that it was, regardless if it was in favour of Max or if things were opposite and they would do it in favour of Lewis, having again the FIA negotiating with a team and then taking a decision together which obviously favours a lot the one side is ridiculous. To me that showed that F1 chooses the champion they want from time to time to have.
@anels93 ай бұрын
@@519achilles the only thing I’ll comment is that it wasn’t just RB talking to massi through the year, all teams did it, and Mercedes did it such ways of redbull. So it’s not like rb were the only ones. That’s all I say.

@stephen22824 ай бұрын
I mean he did show an example of Lewis doing it from P3... @hesleyt4 ай бұрын
Kimi used to do the same. It also has the benefit of warming the brakes. Coarbon disks work better when hot. It doesn't mean that drivers who dance don't brake as well. Usually they do.
I wonder if he gets more carcass temp this way as opposed to surface temp. Might be better lasting heat? Although more strain on the brakes as well?

This will definitely not backfire in Baku

Many drivers have done that, most recent and notable was Raikkonen a few seasons ago, people thought he was driving in a straightline while everyone else zig zagged but it wasn't the case.
@Ryzard4 ай бұрын
TBF this is more of him having to do this for the restart - if Hamilton had been zig-zagging, max could suddenly take off while he's facing the wrong way and get a huge jump. That's the advantage of being able to set the pace in p1, you can try to warm up your tyres better and psych out the ones behind ya. For some interesting tyre warming, I would look at the maneuver alonso sometimes does, which goes all the way back to his renault days when it was way more common - having the tyres break traction, literally throwing the car sideways back and forth on the X axis, like a little slide almost. Watching some old 2006 races, everyone seemed to do it (at least on some tracks) during the parade lap. Now Alonso is the only one I've seen do it in years, it's an interesting thing to watch now that I know where it came from.

This is necessary. It's an SC restart and swerving to heat up tyres will compromise you when the leader goes as they control the field.. If Hamilton used the zig zag technique, verstappen could have taken off mid zig zag and Hamilton would have lost time. This method is to ensure the car is straight when verstappen does go. It's not just hamilton that will do this under these conditions, a lot of other drivers will do the same
