The Hamilton Pier got torn up last year, to be replaced with something else. The water definitely does not have a light blue color, as shown in this film excerpt. "Ugly", dark and possibly polluted looking best describes it.

An estimated 300 high rise Apartments housing 1,000 people each will be needed in the next 10+ years. Just nuts! Every housing project in my survey, in the last 5 years had more than 5 [x10] new town housing projects; each of those homes sold for $380,000 and up. That's 20 Million dollars in real estate, within just a couple of blocks.

This was true, growingup in the 50's 60's and 70's. It was the malls that destroyed the downtown core.
