I Many years ago I worked for Rheem Canada water heaters on Barton west of bay. The plant was built late 19th century, and was amazing to walk through. Rheem closed in 2007 and the building was demolished a few years later. To this day I drive by and only see the remains of the loading docks and get choked up every time. The building was once used to make bomb shells during WW2. It was like time capsule in there.

Very cool video can't wait for part 2, have a question though I live at 24 Tisdale street south at main St across from the no frills plaza and was wondering if you have any information on That area because my uncle Angelo owns the property and I've been told that there was a old water Mill were I'm living in now? Thanks again sincerely Peter

Great videos Ben. I've lived here my whole life and you just taught me so much about some of the different areas I grew up in! Quick question - where do you find all this information and photos??

Thanks. And any number of different places, so it really depends upon what you want to know. The obvious starting point, however, is always the local history at the public library. I found the staff in Hamilton's central library incredibly helpful. I'd also point to the books I list in the credits at the end, all of which are excellent. If there's something in particular you're looking for, however, let me know and I may be able to make more specific recommendations.

In these photos from the 1800s we are seeing telephone electrical polls at a time when electricity wasn't invented yet. What are those metal polls on top of the buildings. This history appears incorrect. These buildings are older then the official dates.
