I lived in Hamilton in 1966 and 67. I certainly remember those trolleybuses. Also remember them from the late 50s used to go to visit my grandparents and my aunt. I remember they were quiet and they would ride smooth. My grandparents lived on Avondale close to the railroad tracks. We also got to see the occasional steam locomotive going down the tracks. My sisters and I used to go to Gage Park. Late 50s.

I remember those buses. Entertainment for us kids in the early 70s was sitting on our front lawn right beside Barton Street and watching the trolley bus go by and waiting for the spark as it made contact with the connections. Sometimes the trolley would come off the track and the driver would have to get out and pull it back up. We lived right on the corner of Barton and Ivon Ave.

Hi Chris, Thanks for watching and for sharing those memories of the good old days. Entertainment was much simpler back then. Stay well. Cheers, tassiebaz.😃

Nice shots. Downtown was more lively then but it still has a lot of nice old architecture today. And it’s interesting to see the transition from maroon and cream to Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ gold and black.

Most of the these "older" busses stopped being serviced, around 1974. Some were still being used in 1975. I really hated them due to the non-existant heating, and foot freezing. There was bad snow season, in 1976-1977. The new "oval window" busses, were ok. I remember other school kids used to just blast them busses with snow balls.

Truly the good old days ... used to ride the Cannon a lot as a kid. Was it really back in 1992 when the trolleys disappeared? Time flies ...

In late 1950, when the first HSR trolley coach route was about to be introduced, the Toronto Transportation Commission sent over some of its overhead installers to help the HSR install the trolley wires (never cables), as the HSR people were not familiar with the techniques required, which were different from those for the existing streetcar wires.

Nice, but many (not all) of the photographs seem to have been digitally processed in some fashion and do not appear to be the original colours of the photos, whether through Instagram-type filters or Photoshop adjustment or what not. Also, since these are photographs and not film clips, it would be more appropriate to say that they were shot or taken or made in the 1970s, not "filmed."
@tassiebaz4 жыл бұрын
Hi jetuber, Thanks for watching and for your comment. All photographs were scanned from slides, therefore subject to some colour variation. I tried to maintain the original colours as best I could, but what I got is what you see. Regards, tassiebaz.
@jetuber4 жыл бұрын
@@tassiebaz Thank you for the response. Yes, you're right -- slides can sometimes yield color results that differ from regular camera film. Again, thanks for the slide show.
