That jet was from RAF Lakenheath 48th TAC fighter wing 492 Fighter Squadron ' Panthers". I was stationed there in the late 80s early 90s. They had F-111Fs when I got there then transitioned to the F-15E as I left. Very nice to see the old Squadron represented here. Nice work.

Really nice build and the fitting issues were easily fixed! I made note about trimming the parts for the metal areas, I never heard of doing that!

You really can’t compare this kit with their later F-14, F-16 and F-18 kits. This kit is quite old, but still, IMHO, not a bad kit. Luv your work mate! 😊

Nice work. I built the non D Day version. The surface detail on this kit is top notch. There are some issues as you pointed out. I would highly recommend this kit!

I like how you tell us not to get frustrated in building a model because sometimes they can be a little inferior or made from a different manufacturer so dont give up or they might take more patience

As long as you give ample drying time between coats and masking I’ve also never had issues with Alclad.

That looks fantastic. Invasion stripes look good on anything. And you're absolutely right about modern jets being grey with a hint of grey. A personal secret I don't often admit too because I get shouted down, I was really unimpressed and underwhelmed with the F15. It always had a tough act to follow the F14, but it felt like a retrograde step in so many ways. But this model looks like a good representation notwithstanding it's shortcomings which you've navigated expertly

I just built this kit and had no issues with the fit. I took it to my hobby shop and they couldn’t believe how well it fit together.

There’s a specific camo for the f15e strike eagle. It is a little bit hard to find photos of, but it’s a ghost grey with a blue-ish grey. If you ever get another f15 model, it would be amazing to see this camo.

Beautiful build! I've got a Tamiya 1/72 scale on the way. I don't think it's got quite the detail level as the Academy, but I'm definitely going to be leaning into your techniques here. I haven't built an airplane kit since before graduating high school, so it's going to be a whole new experience!

if you fold over a little tab at the end of the masking tape, it will be easier to grab.

Every time I watch your builds I want to buy the kit😅. In fact I bought the little Airfix P-51 after that build video. ( spoiler alert, masks on the way) Looks fantastic, always love a good F-15!

Great build and finish! I am finishing my 1/48th version of this exact plane. One thing you overlooked in your reference photos is that all the leading edges of the wings on these three aircraft were painted Compass gray or Light Ghost gray. Also, the little antennas on top and bottom are painted a gull gray and have do not paint stencils on them. Might be too small for 1/72 though.

Superb build!. What reference of aires exhaust nozzles did you used?. I have this model and the nozzles are very poor in detail.

I’m about to build this kit - the SJ 333rd squadron version. I usually prime my kits black but am concerned that I may not get the color right with this one because of the dark color of the plane. What color did you use for the body? I think the tamiya gunship grey is too dark, was thinking of gunship gray 2. Would love to hear your thoughts. Excellent video btw! Thanks!

As far as I know this is the same tooling as their multicolored F-15K that's similar to a gundam kit, so yes, color separation and all that is intentional

What do you use to keep the parts on the wooden sticks while painting? I have always been curious about that 😂
