I would take the Canik, I have had 5 Caniks and they all were excellent shooting guns with no reliability issues. I don't like Glocks at all, until they make some changes in their guns a Glock will not be in my rotation, just my preferences are different. The sights are not good sights for an EDC in IMO on either of these guns. Night sights are a must on a EDC unless you never go out after dark. I practice shooting after dark, it's different than day time shooting. No sleeves on the magazines in this day in age is unacceptable, but I also don't like that gap at the base of the grip of the Canik at the back of the magazine. I traded in my TP9 Elite SC for that reason. These are just my personal opinions and everyone has their own. Either one is better than no gun.

Optic ready, light rail, better trigger, less expensive? I'll choose those attributes.

I have a Gen 4 26. I also am invested in Glocks and while the Canik is very appealing especially for the price I don't see changing. I don't think there is significant difference to do so. I think the Canik being significantly less expensive and optics ready are the advantages. I don't put optics on my carry pistols and I have the 26 setup with sights, grip reduction, stippling, extended levers and Precision Overwatch-probably another $350/$400. I bought the Glock Blue Label but I could buy two Caniks for what I have in the Glock. There is the obvious advantage to the Glock for aftermarket parts and accessories. To me one of the great advantage of Glocks is the ability to totally disassemble all the parts (except the interior channel liner) easily and work on it without the need for a gunsmith or special tools. I don't know about Canik, but most pistols this isn't so without more tools and skill. However I would buy the Canik in a heartbeat if I wasn't "invested" in Glocks. I have holsters that fit both my 26 and Glock19. I have six G26 mags and eleven G19 mags and nine G17 mags. I'm "invested" in Glocks. I started the investment in 1992 with a G17 when there wasn't competition for polymer striker fired pistols. I think the 1911s where still king of the hill at that time. I agree with the positive comments below. BTW I'm not a Glock "fanboy". It's just where I ended up. Lots of truly great pistols today. If proven to be reliable and reports seem to be very positive, the Canik is a real winner for the money. I think it will have the same impact as the Sig 365.

I have a gen4 26 and love it. Picking up a MC9 this weekend. Not sure which I’ll carry more.

I've never shot a 26, but I have shot many other Glocks, and I even EDC a 48, and I can't see the 26 trigger being much better than any of the other Glocks, much less the MC9. I also own the MC9, and that trigger is just phenomenal. Tbh, the VERY first round I fired out of that MC9 made me think I had a misfire because the trigger reset is so short.

The Canik METE appears to be a very good pistol but the Glock 26 is such a great pistol with a proven track record that my plan is to stick with the G26. If I had neither pistol and wasn’t already invested in Glock pistols & accessories, the Canik would be a real contender.

I love my gen 3 Glock 27, I have the factory 10 round magazine with the pinky extension, fits my hand like a glove. I also have the Trijicon HD Night Sights on it. I love having 11 rounds of 40S&W in my carry gun, feel very well equipped. I have shot many of these newer polymer striker plastic carry guns, and really don't see much improvement over what I already own.

I was going to purchase a MC9 but ended up going with a Shield Plus in FDE. Already have a G26 Gen 5 and love it. Only thing that would make it better is a MOS cut but it’s not a necessity to me.

Both appear to be good pistols, but you can't top the G26's track record, and I've heard of a few problems here and there with the canik. I'll keep my G26, thanks.

Like I’ve said before, there is no appreciable difference between these two guns in terms of dimensions and weight. With 20+ years of reliability, an unbeatable aftermarket and versatility of being able to go from 10 rounds to a 33 round magazine, the G26 is the better overall gun.

The canik definitely has a better trigger.

Glock 26 has the proven track record. Canik MC9 might be new but is the far superior shooter. Give the MC9 a few more years of constant reliability, then the comparison will be a fair one in my opinion.

Reliable Glock trigger Canik I have them both but to me if I had to protect the one I love I’m going my Glocks at a hundred percent great compare though.

Capacity wise what do you mean Canik doesn’t go as high as Glock? I have a 50 round drum for my Canik literally all mags are interchangeable with Canik’s besides The Rival

The Canik MC9 slide is optic ready where the Glock is not. The trigger on the Canik is a better right out of the box trigger and there is more grip surface with the extended magazines. With all that said, it really comes down to the shooters preference. Do I feel that the Glock is the best choice for a new owner???? I will have to leave that in the hands of a new gun owner as they should have a hand in making the choice.

For me the Glock 26/27 maxes out my pocket. It's better as a holster gun than a pocket gun for me. Adding additonal height of anoth 1/2'' for the Canik would probably be too much for my pocket. So if it is a holster gun for me then I may be better off just carrying my Glock 23 (The Glock 19 is identical in size) as its height is only a little more than the Canik and I get a full grip

If the Glock had a rail and an optics cut, it would be the best carry gun ever.

A comparison between these two pistols has nothing to do with size, capacity, or ergos. The comparison has everything to do with how the striker is released. The Canik is a direct copy of Walther’s design. The way it releases the striker and reset on the trigger is incredibly better engineered.

The mc9 might win after they recall it because it jams!

LOL The triggers are nowhere close. The 26 has the typical garbage Glock trigger, the MC9 trigger is better than an aftermarket trigger for the Glock. My 18 round Rival magazines work just fine in my MC9 as well, as do all Canik magazines. I still have a couple Glocks, but they are primitive compared to other manufacturers today. Pretty much just dust collectors. All of todays guns are reliable, so that age old argument is out the window. I guess as long as folks keep paying the inflated Glock prices, Glock will continue to be the least innovative gun maker out there.
