Just another note on the honey; Mead is actually made out of honey, and everyone knows that Dwarves love their mead, so it kinda makes sense for them to have bees.

Disney might sue, but you know who wont? Wind Rose. They aren't the only Dwarf band, but a particularly good excerpt for Hammerting comes to mind from the ever excellent "Mine Mine Mine": "Through the night, working til the dawn Pickaxe ready, tight the ranks beating on the walls Building up a dwarven realm that will never kneel Against the rock the sparking of the steel!" my only critique so far with this is I would rather have highly detailed animated 2D character models than poorly detailed 3D character models

I find it lacks any sense of urgency or danger, or even any kind of need to make good decisions. Everything just goes along in a kind of meh way.

I like how this is coming along. One thing I hope they do at some point is get a proper Dwarven musical score going. Right now the ambience is more generic fantasy and less DWARRRRF!

No need to build scaffolds to clear areas for room building; room blueprints include their own temporary scaffolding for clearing and construction

27:18 The blue colored dig icons indicate spots the game recognizes it needs to delay digging so that other dig command spots can be reached.

My problem with this game is that you are playing as dwarves, but in the game nothing feels like I'm playing as dwarves. No bearded characters and the building don't feel dwarvish at all .

Agree, player stats, traits and so on have little to no impact so which character you take seems to make little difference in the end

The devs are super helpful. I had graphics issues and they got in contact with me very quickly and was very informative in how I could maybe fix the issues.

"Honey was actually really valuable in medieval times." It makes some sense for dwarves to like bees, at least certain species. There are those who make their nests underground, so a dwarven culture that's subterranean would value friendly dwellers like that. Those tend to be solitary bees, though, don't think they produce honey, but it's a way to tie it in, at least. Then there's the obvious stereotype of dwarves and honey mead, but also honey's medicinal properties. Dwarves being remote mountain dwellers, they would have limited access to a variety of plants and herbs compared to forest-dwelling elves. A honey poultice is a fairly effective early treatment for wounds (see also: Don't Starve). And beyond that, you know, honey has the colour of gold, it works on several levels. This game looks really interesting, ticks several boxes on my wishlist, so... yeah, on the wishlist this one goes, looking forward to the finished product.

Craft the world is a great game. However, dwarves' AI is stupid sometimes. Characters are stuck from time to time or use irrational routes.

Oh Team17, brings back memories for me. Use to play years of Worms 2 Demo with an amazing clan (which I forgot the name about, still trying to recall it to this day) Damn.. So much fun, Roping/triple killing/just messing about.. That demo was hella fun! :D

@@Baxter244 size. Gnomes are small..little people..usually portrayed with tall red hats....dwarf folk are halflings...about half the height of adult humans..but very strong for their size

Stupid fact; Plural for Dwarf is Dwarfs. It was Tolkien that pushed back against this norm and used dwarves as the plural.

Bought this a long while back but then wasn't able to play because they wanted a graphics driver update I couldn't do because it messed other stuff up. Looks like they've improved a lot of stuff that felt like it was missing before so thats nice.

Played it. Beat it. Was a fun break from my normal grinds. Not likely to come back without a multiplayer mode of some sort though. Still, hope these guys get what they want done!

I keep hoping this game gets awesome. I've owned it since Christmas but still haven't played it. (Craft The Word, BTW let you auto-build Ladders for your Dwarves if you were wearing Ladde4r Packs) I can keep waiting till more bugs are ironed out though...

9:41 was it Stonehearth, by any chance? I do know the hearthlings (villagers) do build scaffolds automatically when building structures, but they don't do it otherwise, so it might not be Stonehearth.

Here is my take. The game is quite disappointing. It doesn't feel dwarf-like. The traits and stats do nothing in particular. The macro management is terrible since the A.I. is rather dumb. It's even worse that you can't micro manage your dwarves. I would like to make a certain dwarf do a certain task. But it doesn't matter...the A.I is dumb and traits and stats do nothing. That means everyone does everything the same. The quest don't do much but give gold and research points. Gold doesn't do much, mostly give slight happiness to the dwarves. The research tree is simple and linear but it's all over the place and makes no sense. You also need exploration points for research. If you're stuck at an edge, can no longer explore or build due to low resources, it's basically game over. And my dwarves occasionally die from monsters, starvation or insanity before I can research weaponry or food or anything that increases happiness. Monsters spawn out of nowhere and kill my dwarves, the stats again, don't matter. My best dwarf, stat-wise, will die from them even equipped with the best weapon I can forge.
