Thank you so much for this video! 1 year post multiple ischemic strokes. I used to be a pro musician and am working to regain my finger dexterity. I use exercises to improve touching my fingertips to my thumbs in various patterns and building up the speed and smoothness of the movements. Thanks for the encouragement!🙏

Wow. I learned more from watching this video thana YEAR of OT where I was stuck in a corner trying to put pegs on holes for 45 minutes!

@bonnieporter, I can't tell you how much I HATE pegs. They're the least functional activity anyone could do in therapy. I'm so sorry you had that experience, but it sounds like you're finding ways to take control over your own therapy! :) I love finding ways to make everyday activities part of therapy!

@@PostStrokeOrg honestly yes! Thanks a ton for asking. I’ve come to a stage where I am very mobile, able & completely independent, but have been struggling a lot with my back hand movements, that being the bra or tying halter clothes, or things at the back of my hand, & I struggle with this because there’s no content like this anywhere on the net, for improving your range of motion at the back. & trust me I’ve really looked for anything that could help, but nothing I’ve come across so far nothing. If you’d share a video on something similar to what I’m looking for that would be so so helpful. Lots of Love from Alison. Hope your healthy & safe.

@alisonquadros, Yes! Thank you so much for responding. That movement is related to rotation of the shoulder and, as I'm sure you've experienced, can be very difficult to regain. Another great topic video, many thanks. A current issue I’m having post my stroke, is my affected hand not being able to close fully, 4 fingers not achieving full curl into or toward the palm. I’m also experiencing swelling/ inflammation of the fingers and hand in general. Are you familiar with some exercises that can help reduce the swelling, getting a fuller microondas toward closing the fingers..?? Thanks
@PostStrokeOrg
@PostStrokeOrg 8 ай бұрын
I'm sorry you're dealing with swelling issues! I know that has to be frustrating. There are some exercises that you can do to reduce swelling and certain compression garments that may help. BUT I would talk with your doctor first, because they need to understand why the swelling is happening in the first place to make sure that those things would be medically appropriate for you!

His Right hand & leg also recovered 85%. Now is it possible to recover his left side ot the body atleast 70%? Will he survive from bed ridden condition & walk again?

Why does my affected arm and leg get stiff with cold weather temperatures?
@PostStrokeOrg
@PostStrokeOrg 2 жыл бұрын
This is a really good question! Normally, we experience a "thermal response" to cold weather. Meaning when it's cold, our blood vessels constrict and shivering is a biological response to try and warm up the body. While it's not completely understood, increased stiffness of the affected side in response to cold may be that due to nerve damage as a result of the stroke. Sensory aspects (like stiffness) can be altered or made worse after a stroke because of the way the stroke affected the brain. I hope this helps!
