In this simple project I set out to make a drip edge / guard for the drawbridge on the workshop, a tomorrow job I have been putting off for months! It is a simple, straightforward process (in theory) and I hope you enjoy the video 👍.
As ever, thank you so much for your continued support in my disability woodworking adventures. Please consider giving the video a thumbs up and maybe even subscribing to the channel. Best Wishes, Leo

Gaz, I couldn’t believe it. And when I politely asked why they’d binned it, ‘because it has a few splits in it’ was the answer 😳

@2:36 ... Brother, auto-locking tape measures are a godsend for us single-high-five types. I prefer autolock, magnetic ends, with dual sided printing... but a good tape brand with all 3 of those things doesn't exist. So I either buy auto-lock with magnet in tooth from fastcap or a cheap tape with all 3. But a traditional tape can be a nightmare as you know all too well.

You’re exactly right mate, I do have better tapes (somewhere 😂) but they weren’t to ‘hand’ at the time 💪😂😀👍

😆 Nice one Leo. After I blatantly copied your door design in one of my shed build videos, I now find it necessary to also copy your drip strip 🤣🤣🤣. I must admit, I had completely over looked this on my build. Thanks Leo, hope your well 😁👍.

Long overdue this Frank. Checked it this morning and by looking how much water it is deflecting off the door, I should have done it ages ago 😂😂👍👍

Thanks for this. Will definitely give EBS25 a go. I should have shares in CT1 (but it is great stuff)..

It’s got to be worth a try Emmet. You can get a tube of it for around £7-£8 and last time I checked CT1 it was around the £13-£14 mark

Nice tip about the eb25 Leo, i just cant bring myself to pay the CT1 price. Im not sure what the finished section of that door drip was but it needed a capillary groove or even a rebate on the underside so the rain doesn’t run back along the bottom edge and down the face of the door.
@Hand-i-Craft
@Hand-i-Craft Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim, in regards to the groove I got away with it with was I thought ‘a mistake’ with the router bit / groove on the underside. The water comes around the front and drops off on the underside of the lip of the routed edge if that makes sense? I’ve just written it and I’m not sure it even makes sense to me😂😂. What I’m trying to say is it works ok which was a fluke😀👍 Try the EB25 stuff and see what you think, wouldn’t mind hearing your thoughts👍. I’m very impressed with it and on occasions you’ll see it around half the price (when on offer) of CT One.

You can get it for around £7-£8 when the last time I checked for CT1 is was around £13. Big saving if you’re buying plenty of it 👍

Hi Leo, nice simple job that oh so easily gets put on the tomorrow list. I’ve got so many jobs to do that I have taken to putting them all in a list and only prioritising the top 10 to work on, the rest I ignore, so at least I feel I am making progress by working on some of them. I’m sorry to say that I think you will find that the drip guard doesn’t work as effectively as you want it to 😢. I think you’ll get water running down the front of your drip guard but then wicks around the roundover and along the underneath, then down the front of the drawbridge or inside the top edge. If you look at wooden windowsills they have a U channel routered in the underneath just in from the front edge to break the surface tension on the water and cause it to drip down onto the ground. I am by no means an expert on these things but I think that’s what you would need to get water to drip properly onto the ground. Sorry
@Hand-i-Craft
@Hand-i-Craft Жыл бұрын
Thanks Geoffrey. As luck would have it, the mistake I made using the wrong router bit appears to have paid off. Totally agree in retrospect a roundover would have just taken the droplets onto the underside of the piece of timber and down the door, but the channel I’ve cut into the strip appears to be working and the droplets are falling to the ground🤞👍. Going to keep an eye on it, maybe the drip guard needs to be a little wider, but we’ll see 😀👍

I am sorry but I cannot click the like button because google has removed it. I checked on line and was told that if I like too many videos the algorithm decides that I am acting like a bot and removes the like button for a period. I find this as being stupid because I only watch you KZfaq videos that I like so the possibility that I will like the video is more than not liking it.
