Aloha from Kailua, Hawai'i guys. Amazing that your Guernsey congers look just like out Hawaiian congers we call puhi uha (Hawaiian) or tohei (Japanese) or White Eel. We have allot of descendants of Portuguese immigrants who arrived here back in the early 1870s to work the sugar cane fields. They introduced the Portuguese way of preparing these eels called vinha d'alhos which is eel cooked in white wine vinegar. Delicious.

Jay, I’ve seen you and Sam make some stonking videos, but for sheer excitement this has to be the best. Watching the Congers so close taking the bait was awesome. Hi guys well done ....... I remember as child my grandma used to cook eel. She cook it in mustard butter sauce and simmer it on the old stove. How she cleaned them was gutt them then stripped the off. She would some loosen up the top the pull it down the tail ..all came off in 1 go . Just thought you might like to try this. Amazing watch! A crazy conger night and they certainly aren't shy that night, looked like they where on an inshore feeding forage and frenzy. Amazing, never seen that happen before. In Weymouth on the harbour wall in 1990, I was talking to a local fisherman when his rod slammed against the wall, shattered, and fish lost. The guy next to us said 'big conger'. Awesome, when you think how close they are. You could almost touch them.

They are great to eat respectfully since they are slow to reproduce. I used to cut them up as you did, throw it all in a big pot with some onion and seasoning and boil them up to make fantastic jellied eel. Easy to jar up and save too. Good catches.

Awesome Conger Eel catching adventure! That's a good productive area you guys found on the shoreline! The European Conger Eels are known to be the largest heaviest species of Eels currently known. European Conger Eels are said to be potentially Dangerous to people as well. You guys handeled them safely. Have you gentlemen considered using an Eel Spear or steel wire Net to also catch the Conger Eels? Job well done. There is so many ways to prepare the Conger Eels. From Steaks to Japanese style Eel or Smoking them. Awesome stuff way to go!

Fabulous footage and what a great job of adapting. Here in Michigan, I've got a few spots where I target bowfin (called dogfish here) in the spring and early summer. Watching you guys made me think that i MUST try handlining a few of them this year. Great job.

Just watched boys! Wow nice size Congers! In the states we fish eels and nowhere the size you boys have! Man, took me back to my good ol days! Keep up the great fishing vids, Love to join you someday!

Next time you catch a conger for cooking try some like scampi. Small pieces in seasoned flour, egg and breadcrumbs then deep fried. You will be amazed how good conger bites taste. Hope you give them a try sometime. Tight lines.

There ya are boys... remarkable and great to see...since u did that I'll tell you the hand lined conger We tangled with wrenched itself into a snag thirty feet down, forty feet out.. rope tight and immoveable.. as a steel cable...then proceed over about two hours...to straighten a shark hook to a right angle.....we never did even see it...... left a bit of its white throat lining on the barb..as a bit of forensic evidence.....the memory is stuck in my head...all from a pier .....

Wow thanks for the video, what a great idea never thought of trapping congers by torchlight - had great fun in the summer taking the kids to catch signal crayfish at night , they come out bold as brass and their little eyes reflect the light (crayfish not the kids ) .
