This mother should have contacted the UK authorities through the British Embassy instead of taking the law into her own hands and getting herself into trouble. If she has the children's custody then this was/is a case of kidnapping. In fact she must get legal advice because it seems she is very ignorant of the laws and her rights. The mother-in-law or any other person has no rights to the children unless they have court papers to the contrary.
