Good to see people doing there own custom work, not hating on it at all in any way (the club style look is over done & certainly not my thing) but the wiring should have come down through your upper triple tree where it was stock
@TheGingybeardMan
@TheGingybeardMan 5 жыл бұрын
Was wondering how long it would take someone to realise how I run the wiring. The stock wiring is a bit too short with the 10 inch risers if you run it through the triple trees the way it was stock. I personally havnt seen many club style harleys in Aus. As you can see I'm a huge fan of the style..... I guess that's all that matters though.
@not_a_street_bob
@not_a_street_bob 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheGingybeardMan hahaha yeah I am OCD when it comes to my cars n bikes especially so I notice things like that There is tons of older Dyna Street Bob etc bikes done with the "club style" look in Aus & more & more of the M8's popping up, they all have something a bit different I guess but all the same visually really, I couldnt have that, im all about creating a different look & finding them different unique parts that nobody else has or has never even seen 1 thing I dont get though is the club style bar setup overall with 10" risers....sure it changes the look but the stock bars are around 10"-11" rise anyway so the actual rise is the same, it is now just limited to a tiny bit of adjustment rolling the MX shape bars forward & back a tiny bit, might change the overall feel a bit but the grips are around the same spot but the gauge setup has been messed with & moved up which leaves all the wiring hanging out & just seems pointless for no real actual gain I had to roll the stock bars forward a tiny bit to make it comfy for me (5'11"), with your new setup it looks like the bars are back quite a bit now which might be fine for you I guess but it would be terrible for me How does the new setup feel compared to the stock bars Again as mentioned not hating on it I just dont get it

The Gingybeard Man nice install you are really careful. I’m not and the first thing I would have done was drop something on that beautiful tank! That’s why I always cover it with a thick towel. We always used tall glide risers with dragbars on Wide Glide front ends but your fairing has me scratching my head. I have seen this recently but though it was just a mismatch of parts but this is called “club”? That’s a new one on me. That’s why they call them custom!!!

It does take a fair bit of time to change them just because of all the internal wiring in the bars. If you have the patience it's certainly not a hard job it's just time consuming. $800 for the install is crazy, I'd rather put the money to more parts 🤙

I think its a mistake to set the bars to your reach with elbows locked (full outstretch). If this is a little too obvious, forgive me. I find it rather helpful to maintain reach on both the grips and levers when steering the front wheel. As a matter of personal taste, I would settle for drag bars on this model bike and maybe score pullback risers with very little added height, just for some easier arm reach only. Thanks for sharing.

No offence taken mate, we all have our own preference, I've had two softail slims with the stock bars being quite low and I couldn't stand them. I found them unbearable on long rides as my lower back and shoulders would get cramped. This set up is perfect for my height and reach and I can ride easily ride long distances without any back.or shoulder pain 👍

Great video! After riding with them, do you think a pull back riser would be better for comfort? Or do they set further back than the stock set up?
@TheGingybeardMan
@TheGingybeardMan 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, These bars are pretty close to being perfect for my reach and height however if I had my time again I would go with the lucky Dave's lucky 13 bars as they have a pullback. Also the biltwell gauge mount I purchased will fit those bars. These bars sit a little bit further forward than stock, but it's not too bad.

Good Morning , I am debating on these t bars or the monster dna apes. I read some reviews that the ape have a bad paint or powder coat. Just wanted to get you thoughts . I really like the t bars but i am concerned that i will not be able to see gauges. also if i could get you opinion on that. Thanks .
@TheGingybeardMan
@TheGingybeardMan 3 жыл бұрын
At my height of 5 foot 9 inches tall it was really hard to see the guages with these risers. I ended up buying a riser block off plate from bungking and buying another gauge mount which mounts lower on the bungking risers. That enabled me to see the gauges easily. I haven't had any issues with the dna apes and the powder coating is top notch on my bars 👍

Great installation video, You made it look super easy (maybe there was more troubles behind the scenes) but your video encourage me to do the job myself. I hope it will go as smooth as yours. Just one small question, why did you decide to change from mini ape hangers to the club style (kind of Tbars)? Is it for look preferences or more comfort? Cause I am actually going for a mini ape for my FXLR...Thanks for the inspiration.:)

Hello Frank, at 2.50 I say "stock" bushings meaning I chose to buy heavier duty bushings. The bushingsbare not included with the bungking risers, I bought them from a company called Lucky Daves. You can use the "stock"/original bushings but their will be some movement in the handlebars.

@TheGingybeardMan
@TheGingybeardMan 4 жыл бұрын
With the low rider You may need to lift your tank up by removing the front mounting bolt. Once the tank is lifted at the front you will be able to access the large rubber tab which covers a hole in the frame where the wiring goes into. Once you remove the large rubber tab from the frame you will be able to access your wiring inside the frame. Hope that makes sense mate 👍
