Jeremiah loads for the .300 Blackout in two rifles. First is an AR built by Jeremiah. This is the first rifle he built. The second is a Bolt Action rifle. He purchased the Howa action and stocked it himself.

Good video. I too like the Barnes Tac X loaded over 296. I have an Anderson lower with a Palmetto State upper (M4 free float) and that load delivers the prettiest ten shot one inch group at 100 yards. I'm actually quite impressed at the native accuracy of the Blackout cartridge.

Thank you very much for watching we are glad you enjoyed it! It really is a great bullet for the cartridge and it even expands well at reasonable velocities. That is very cool sounds glad to hear you have had good results with them. As much as people make fun of PSA they do seem to perform well in the accuracy department. The .300 Blackout is a lot of fun to load for and it definitely makes my top 10 for favorite cartridges. Always nice to hear others are having good experiences as well! -- Jeremiah

Probably a bit late in responding to this video but may l just say excellent video, l've been subscribing to Handloader magazive and hands down it is an absolutely excellent publication. Really appreciate your work! I like your style of presenting and appreciate your honesty. Very jealous of your freedom in the US, l have to be content with a bolt 300blk here in Australia.

It is never too late we do our very best to respond to everyone although it may take a few days sometimes! Thank you so much for your subscription to the magazine! It is because of good folks like you supporting us in print that we are able to make these videos. The feedback is always welcome and it is nice to hear we are doing a good job! The .300 Blackout is a super versatile and fun cartridge in both the AR and the bolt action. It is hard to say which one I prefer! It is nice to enjoy the freedoms we have perhaps one day we will see that more widespread! One could only hope! Thank you for watching glad you enjoyed it! Good shooting and happy loading to you!

Thank you very much we were pretty happy overall with our results, especially for the AR with in being a "budget build". We would love to cover more .300 Blackout in the future but we also have a lot of other cartridges and things we would like to cover. I personally am a huge fan of the .300 Blackout and shoot it quite a bit. Thank you for watching and for the feedback!

I've been using Steel Valley Casting powder coated cast bullets in my gun. They are a Sierra 220 copy. I'm using the cfe black powder and have been getting awesome accuracy and sd. They are a pointed boat tail style cast bullet and they feed absolutely flawless in my ar. Great video have been enjoying these videos since I found them.

Very interesting we have not heard of them before, we will have to check them out! Sounds like it is worth a try at the very least. I personally cast and powder coat myself for the .300 Blackout and have had some pretty good luck with them but never Sub MOA yet just close, for plinking and shooting inside 200 yards they work just fine though. Thanks for the tip and thank you for watching. It is always nice to hear that others are enjoying the videos!

I've had great results with Shooter World Blackout in .300 Blackout. I also tried Shooters World Heavy Pistol and it too shoots very accurately in this cartridge and functions reliable in an AR with a short barrel.

Good video. I started handloading in 1972. I have noticed that some powders only like their own fouling. You might need to fire a couple of shots before they group. A lot of hunters come to the field with a slightly fouled bore as the first hit will be true.

what projectiles would you recommend for subsonic 300 blackout hunting applications(deer, hogs, javelina, coyotes)?
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 3 жыл бұрын
My personal recommendation is tailor your bullet to your application, my experience with .300 blackout subsonics on game is somewhat limited but I have performed a lot of expansion tests. I suggest checking out Lehigh or Maker Rex bullets those seem to be the most reliably expanding bullet at subsonic velocities. However I will say hunting with subsonics is less than ideal and performance and range is rather limited.

@@HandloaderTV I am certainly not trying to gripe about gift horses. I like your format, and I think the information you provide is good. That's hard for someone who clearly is a sponsored magazine format producer. I really do like 300 BO stuff though. It is easily the most fun cartridge for me. I don't see many people developing data for lightweight cast supers, ie 110-130 grain. Those make this a very fun and very economical plinking/ action shooting cartridge. IMO, people get so wrapped up in trying to compare it to other cartrigdes, they can't just see what it is on its own. Have a pistol AR with ~11cpr supers, with moderate recoil, and fairly flat trajectory inside 250, and it does everything you would want to do for most 3gun style play, even cheaper than 223. With subs, you can safely shoot steel up close and the recoil is less than blowback PCCs.
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 3 жыл бұрын
@@GunFunZS We appreciate that and appreciate the kind words and are glad to hear that you like the format. We are always wishing we could do more though! We strive to do our best to provide honest and trustworthy results that our viewers can trust. I agree though I personally love the .300 Blackout both of those rifles are mine which is why we were able to do a bolt action and an AR in the same video. It is a very economical and fun cartridge. They do get wrapped up in group size and cartridge comparisons. It does very well for what it was designed closer range engagements and versatility between supersonics and subsonics. The low recoil certainly makes it a fun plinking cartridge as well.

I have the old Nikon super/sub scope with a similar thougth to the reticle. It does tend to work, but the hold overs won't correspond exactly. I emailed them and it turns out they were using remington 125 supers and 220 SMK subs out of a 16" barrel in about 2013 to come up with their BDC.
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah very similar to the Leupold they were using 110 grain and 220 grain bullets for the BDC reticle. However you can tailor loads to use the reticle effectively by tuning your velocity using bullets with similar BC.
@GunFunZS
@GunFunZS 3 жыл бұрын
@@HandloaderTV It is a shame Nikon stopped doing rifle scopes. I think they could have done better with reticle design. Specifically making each feature a known value for quick glassing to measure distance. A lot of their BDCs account for drop, but they put little thought into windage, or intuitive measurement of objects.
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 3 жыл бұрын
@@GunFunZS I was thinking the exact same thing reading your comment! it is a shame. I agree they could've done better but they were still a nice budget option and I always had good luck with their scopes.

I have tried cast bullets in both of these rifles and the Howa certainly shoots them better than the AR but as far as using those powders I have not had very much luck with cast bullets I have had decent results with Accurate 1680 and cast bullets. what do you think of the 7.62x39s?
@HandloaderTV
@HandloaderTV 3 жыл бұрын
It is a good cartridge, similar to the .300 Blackout, average case capacity is about 10 grains more than the .300 Blackout so you should be able to achieve higher velocities than the .300 Blackout. There is a lot less "refinement" with the 7.62x39 for lack of better wording. However a well made rifle with good components should be able to duplicate .300 Blackout accuracy. Overall I enjoy the cartridge and it works well for its intended purpose. However I personally prefer the .300 Blackout over the 7.62x39. Perhaps we will have to do a video on that cartridge in the future. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of actual information on the cartridge just a lot of internet lore.
