If you don’t charge enough for your handmade products you won’t make any money! You won’t be able to buy new materials, you won’t be able to cover your costs and then you won’t be able to make anymore. Sound scary? It should. Getting your pricing right is crucial to your business success!
👉 Claim your FREE Profitable Product Pricing Calculator: app.ahandcraftedbusiness.com/...
It won't cost you a penny... But used correctly it could help you make £££! 😉
You can see my exact pricing product formula here (no opt-in required):
www.ahandcraftedbusiness.com/...
When you price a handmade product you can’t pluck a number out of thin air and use that to set a price.
You can’t ask a stranger how much they would pay.
And you simply can’t take the amount a product has cost you and multiply it by two and then times by 4 (honestly I have seen that!).
To run a successful business you need to know your numbers and I'll happily show you how. If you are making products which won’t sell because they are too expensive (I’ve rarely known this to actually be true!) then you need to rethink your products/suppliers/marketplace not lower your prices!!!

It's such a problem to workout the prices - I'm looking to open an etsy shop next year and I'm researching everything, big headache is pricing my artwork, boxes I make or decorate, I create marble paper from scratch too, Colouring pages..... I'm concerned my prices will be too high - so I cut them (I know I've not opened my shop yet) but it's difficult knowing the pricing to be able to make one product as for a bottle of glue makes many boxes...... But I don't know how many boxes so it's hard calculating. I've not thought about many of the lists you mentioned to consider either....... More thinking I think 😂😂😂 Thank you 😊

Great advice! I'm just starting out making bespoke chocolates and I keep trying to justify it to myself. For a tiny box of 4 unique chocs it comes out at £3.45. It's sounds expensive and I haven't factored in every part of the packaging. I say to myself 'you'd spend that on a coffee or a cake or a pint etc' but I still worry I'm overpriced. They are really tasty though. Thank you for this video!

I charge $15/hour for my time, but I'm not sure if that is a good price for the time. How do I get my price per hour? I'm very confused about this part alone. How can I be certain that I am not going to low but also not going to high?

That's good if you know how long something takes to make but if someone asks you to knit them a king-size blanket, for instance, and you've never knit one before, it's pretty hard to give a price with not knowing how long it'll take, especially if it's in a design you've not knit before which would give you some idea. Even worse, if the pattern isn't a free one, you can't even knit a swatch to calculate how long a king-size would take. If you have to purchase the pattern to do the swatch and you know the person won't like the price at the end, you're out of pocket just trying to give them a price. I don't sell my knitting and crochet, so I don't have that stress.

Most craftsmen that I know of (in rural UK) aspire to the minimum wage, but it’s usually out of reach. The paying public is used to dirt cheap imports from abroad... 👎
@NicolaSmithOnline
@NicolaSmithOnline 3 жыл бұрын
sadly this can true - though adding in a business focus, and marketing to an audience who can and does appreciate handmade can and does make a difference. The people who buy cheap imports are not the best customers for a handcrafted business. They do exist!
