These exercises feel awkward in the beginning, but you should feel a substantial difference already after a few days. I hope you can stick with them and they help you to improve your playing! Is it difficult for YOU to get even a simple pattern to work or is it going quite ok from the beginning? It would be super interesting if you come back after a few days and let me know if you feel an improvement already! :)

Thank you for this excellent lesson. It makes you step back and refocus. I learned some traditional drums and this forced you to play all limbs and frustrating at first but necessary. Now, l play HP and l still find weaknesses in the left. This exercise here builds the mental muscle also required for development.

I don't have a weak hand - since playing piano for decades... I am left handed naturally... long ago teachers back in 1969 and early 1970s from kindergarten to 2nd grade attempted to force me to be right handed and for awhile I was ambidextrous but stuck to my left hand as a teacher later on thought it was ridiculous to force me to be right handed... as I was different with inherent abilities, high IQ, and advanced artistically... I play by ear and compose my own music... Thanks for sharing...

Thanks for the lesson. Very interesting. I don't have a tool yet, but I'm training on a piece of wood. Someday I will be able to buy this wonderful tool. Thanks again for the lesson. Well, that makes me crazy. )) I've spent about 15 minutes only to start playing the groove (the third exercise) slowly with the right leading hand, and when I've started to try the left hand as the leading one I've found that each time I want to start the next sequence back with the right hand again! :D :D :D

Hi David, thanks for the video. would you be able to say what could be the reason that ma slap sound rings the notes no matter where I hit?
@DavidKuckhermann
@DavidKuckhermann 3 жыл бұрын
The slap sound depends on the individual instrument quite a bit. On some instruments you don't get the nice and clear accent. The amount of ringing can be influenced by your technique, but the instrument is a factor here as well. Without seeing you play, it's hard to say what the reason is for the ringing sound
@1oglop1

@@DavidKuckhermann Thank you, I just wanted to know your opinion. I suspected that it could be partially on the instrument side. I've been learning for 2 weeks for now so my technique isn't much better as well. Thank you for your videos it helps a lot as I have 0 musical background and have to learn all the terms and explanations.

Are you stepping away from paid courses then? Or will there be more content for handpandojo? Whats the difference?
@DavidKuckhermann
@DavidKuckhermann 4 жыл бұрын
There will definitely be more content for handpandojo. Those courses are a step-by-step guide - all the videos build on each other. The curriculum is similar to how I would work with a private student building up skill and musical ability. These KZfaq videos each cover a specific subject in 5-10 minutes. They work great as addition to the handpandojo courses, but can also work independently. Some of the videos will be probably be integrated into the handpandojo courses with additional material in the future.

Do you have an amara c# by any chance you could do some tutorials with? I feel that scale would be slightly more engaging to listen to throughout the tutorial
@DavidKuckhermann
@DavidKuckhermann 4 жыл бұрын
That's a question I'm also pondering. So far I'm sticking to the D-Kurd, because a) it's probably the most common scale and b) I imagine, sticking to the same instrument makes it easier to get used to it and transfer the material to whichever instrument you're playing on. The downside is that it is not as interesting to listen to, changing instruments would be better in that regards. It's an open question, but many people seem to appreciate that I stick to the same scale, because it makes learning the patterns easier for them.
