Hands and Wrists: How to Prepare for Hand Balances ~ Yoga Teacher Tips with Rachel

Yoga has a ton of hand balances - even downward facing dog is a hand balance! So how do we effectively and safely work to use our hands to be weight bearing? In this video, I share two of my favorite active stretching preps for hand balances, as well as one keep strategy I use to help my students create stability from their hand to their shoulder. We alos look at a couple of more passive stretches with which to close class.
Not only are these strategies great for hand balancing, they're also just excellent to give our hands and wrists some love after typing and texting all day!

I can't express how much ALL of your videos have helped me understand practically. You articulate your knowledge beautifully. I do have a request for a sanskrit pronunciation (maybe start with just the asanas) video/series. There are limited resources for this, and I think you could help us effectively 😊

Christa, I am so flattered that you think I can pronounce Sanskrit!! The truth is is not my strong suit, BUT I have a Sanskrit course in my to do list…if I become proficient I will definitely share!! 💛

This has helped me so much in side plank! I believe you mentioned this “pickle jar” method in a DYWM class I took, and it has made a big difference for me. As always, thanks for these great videos!
