I know many of you have been anxiously waiting to see this...and I know we've certainly been excited to review it... so on today episode of Hands on with Reef we’re going to be checking out the all new Nauticam NA-A7SIII underwater housing and Sony A7S III camera.
This camera is an absolute powerhouse for 4K underwater RAW video that's loaded with a whole variety of features to enhance any underwater filmmakers experience. This comprehensive first look will cover all of those features and demonstrate some of the benefits for shooting with this equipment underwater.

What a great tool for underwater work. That's probably the nicest underwater housing I've seen ... so simple to setup.

After much deliberation, I actually bought a Nauticam for my A7SIII. I thought that I can start with 28-60 and flatport. Now I have read that I need mandatory still the WWL-1. I am now a bit in doubt whether I have decided correctly. With a RX100 and Nauticam I would have been on half the price. I know that you can not compare in terms of quality. But is the extra weight and price worth it? What do you guys think?

The WWl-1B is great addition to the 28-60mm as it will get you a wider FOV underwater, provide better image quality than your 28-60mm by itself, and close focusing abilities which can be a real game changer underwater. Are you primarily shoot still images or video? If video, the A7SIII is a much more capable camera in our opinion ...4K 120P (vs 4k 30P), Full frame sensor for low light (vs 1inch compact sensor), better/reliable AF, 4K 60P ProRes RAW option with Ninja V, 10bit 422 color (rather than 8bit 420), there's a wide variety of benefits. Thank you for your answer :-) I know that the WWL-1 gives better image quality, but I thought I could start with the flat port- but that's no option... I also know that the A7SIII is much better in every single aspect. (she's also much more expensive, so that's no wonder :-) ) I'm just still a little afraid of the hassle of traveling and handling underwater. Even if I have over 220 dives, I guess it could be a little bit difficult underwater for example with strong current.. (I'm a 99% video and a 1% photo shooter...)

Great video! I'm considering an A7SIII or Fx3 for Abient light shooting while Freediving, but ur comment about the to low Kelvin settings options are holding me back now. What kelvin range has a Canon R5? And for which depth is 9999K enough? Great Regards, Chris

Thanks for the video! Would it be possible to do a comparison with canon eos r5 for underwater filming? (Img quality, white balance, autofocus etc?) thanks!!

Hi Pierre, thanks for the comment! Yes we intend to do this along with an separate R5 video as well, we're just waiting on getting a hold the camera at the moment as they're still in short supply but soon!

i am struggling to put the zoom ring on my 28-60 lense...whatever i try it doesn't seem to connect with inner ring of the NA sonyA7SIII any piocture or link that could help me?? using the nauticam 37163 SFE2860-Z ring adapter specially design for the 28-60mm FE4-5,6 lense

Hi great videos. Thx for them. I have been having green tint problem in manual wb in ambient light with my sony a7s3. I use a 18% grey card to set it. Any suggestions?

Yes IBIS is available in all resolutions and frame rates including 4K 120

What lenses were used in the underwater shots?

Do sigma e mount lenses work with some of the lens ports, specifically the 24sigma art and 50mm, and if so which port should i get

Hi Braden, both are compatible and not great lenses in air, however they're not to useful underwater due to the lack of zoom range. What kind of underwater images are your interested in taking? Wide angle, macro, portrait? Happy to make some suggestions on lenses for you if that's helpful!
