Nothing coming from Washington surprises me anymore. The government has been at war with industry since 1970, and now that enough of it has moved offshore, they're going after the ability to generate reliable electricity. ICE cars will be legislated off the roads one way or another to appease the Climate Gods.

You sir, Ray, have given us in just a few short months a shining example of how this country was built. Starting from nothing but willing to take a risk, and putting in a tremendous amount of hard work, all the time not neglecting your family responsibilities and willing to involve your family, you're well on your way to having established a thriving business that you should be extremely proud of. Unfortunately, we see too little of that today. Today's youth are always looking for the easy way out and most will never accomplish even half of what you already have. Thank you for taking us along on your journey.

Maybe it was just the camera angle but it looked like that cam position sensor wire was still dangling in space right next to the belt unsecured. The one that had to be rewrapped so the belt wouldn't cut through it. Ray always solves those little things we notice right at the end. He'll say something like "and you guys thought I forgot." Hey sorry but you gotta start using fender covers! If the owner is fixing up the mechanical spending obviously a shit ton of money he probably doesn't wanna have to do paint or paint correction because of it!

You should see when he starts spraying brake cleaner near paint, lol. Ray to the best of my knowledge came up through the chain shop/dealer network, so he focuses on speed of getting the job done.

@rick980 Жыл бұрын
@@craigfin3222 I would have cleaned those pulleys they had a lot of old rubber from the dried up old belts, cleaned up the old oil that had built up on the front of the engine from the leaks. Make it look like you actually fixed the leaks and be able to tell easier where the leaks are if it when it leaks in the future. But taking care not to damage anything on the customers car is priority one in my book. When I did do any stuff on mine or friends cars I was always super careful with fender covers, supporting things like brake calipers properly. Really could not live with all the tools just in a pile on my bench, wherever that is just a waste when you have to look for things.

Fender covers don't always guaranty customer satisfaction. I worked for an Oldsmobile restoration shop for a spell. They had a customer who owned a 40 Ford coupe with an Olds 330 engine. He wanted a 455 installed. The car was similar in color to this Monte Ray is working on. Customer came in periodically to check on progress as the chassis needed some bracing added. Fender covers were in place at all times and viewed by the customer. After all was said and done, the customer came back complaining of minor scratches on his front fenders. The customer was looking to get a "free" engine swap.

That's nothing. The design team for the AMC Pacer put a straight 6 into an engine compartment designed for a small rotary engine. The rear 2 cylinders pushed pretty far back and my memory is changing those plugs were impossible. AMC had a deal with GM to source the rotary but near the end GM scrapped the engine project and AMC was stuck with a production ready platform they had to do something with.

Little trick Ray, For an awkward position to start a bolt, Take the socket needed , Take a piece pf paper towel/shop wipe, rip a big enough piece to jam inside the socket where the head of the bold sits then use the socket to deliver the bolt to the position. You should be able to start the bolt by hand and then at least it has grabbed by a few threads.

A trip for installing nuts is plastic tube ,put a couple of inches on the nut part and feed it in ,better to use 1/2" hose pipes on spark plugs as well if you start to cross thread it the hose pipe slips so you don't mess up the threads ,safer than using sockets ! Keep a selection of assorted inside diameter bits of tube for those out of sight applications you can start the bolt and easily pull the tube off then use the socket.
