Watching some old Westerns filmed on location, and it's a trip picking out the cedar remnants... especially stumps. Also, some very interesting observations looking at Flight Radar 24 down on the terrain from above Pennsylvania and other points northeast. You can actually see the cedar rips and knots, and i believe leaves and brushy areas... maybe. Thank you! You truly are a blessing. Salutations my Friend, Another very good documentary, and something to open up skeptical minds and clouded eyesight, make the picture another degree clearer! I was just considering a few things concerning the thickness of rings; I was first puzzling over the massive volumes of water held up in those trees, turgor pressure, water towers the likes of which some simply cannot grasp, and if a tree was collapsed or broken, could you imagine the water that would pour forth! But, what really perplexed me, are these growth rings, if that is what they are and I believe it so, but what an amazing mass was added every year to these ancient trees! ....or is it a case that weather was not a factor, and divisions of year into seasons was not definitive, and perhaps that thing which disrupted growth was part of some terms based upon a lengthier scale that happened once every century or more, meaning that there was a certain reason for a winter to occur every great while before a return to a very extended regular and near constant set of weather, until that next time finally came around again. I wish I had a better understanding of that process, and as always, it will be something that I will have to sit and think about until the simple answer strikes me! How do we tell the difference between mud layers from the flood and petrified trees? I understand the mud was laid down very rapidly and formed fossils and coal, etc. Some is obviously trees but other areas it's harder to tell. Thank you!

Mount Zion Park in Utah with its 6000 foot canyons must be a very good example of the remain of these giant ancient cedars. The colour there often ranges to purple. You don't seem to answer BUT how old do you think these giant trees are? When were they alive? How long could a tree like this live? Any response would be appreciated . Thanks.
