Crisps/potato chips in any sort of deli sandwich are wonderful. (that is to say, a sandwich with meat and/or cheese. put crisps on a PB&J at your own risk.) Adds salt and crunch, which can elevate boring sandwiches and make already good ones great :D crucial detail is that you should (ideally) combine crisps and sandwich just prior to eating, as otherwise any moisture in the sandwich will quickly make your crisps soggy.

One of my favorite books to read my kids is Elbert, The Curious Clock Tower Bear by Andrew Prahin. Elbert, whose curiosity interferes with his duties, is given a day to rid himself of his curiosity so he can return to the clock tower, but the harder he tries to leave his curiosity behind, the more he is drawn into a world of questions and discovery. I read this book for my children as much as I'm reading it to myself.

Butty is the singular. however, it is a chip butty, as John said at first. Also crisp butties are popular, what the British call crisps but Americans would call potato chips. They are so important that there are dialect words in different parts of the UK. Sarnies down south. Barm, cob, roll and stottie are used in various parts of the North.

There was a certain amount adaptation required in remembering to order a chip *cob* at 2am after eight pints.

I'm from Nottingham. They'd know what you meant if you said chip butty, easily. People say it. The cob is the roll itself, so it's interchangeable. I'd say the butty is usually the whole sandwich, not the bread alone. So one could make a butty using a cob, but not vice versa.
