Hannah Brencher's mother always wrote her letters. So when she felt herself bottom into depression after college, she did what felt natural -- she wrote love letters and left them for strangers to find. The act has become a global initiative, The World Needs More Love Letters, which rushes handwritten letters to those in need of a boost.

This is beautiful, Hannah. Such an important message for our fast-paced world. Please ignore anyone posting about nerves or speaking ability in the comments below--they somehow missed the shining beacon of light pouring out of your heart in this talk. Keep up the amazing work!

I miss writing letters, I would do it, if I were to have one sent to me in return. and she's so right its easy to send an email, but with that comes so much distraction from the internet. To sit down and only think about one person through the whole letter is an art form!

That was beautiful. Everything she said is inspirational and I hope people listen and try the same thing.

My eyes mist. I authored a romantic novella entitled "Letters. What one man wrote to the object of his affections but never sent them."

Songwriters use the letter-writing technique before they actually write the lyrics to a song. This gives them the opportunity to emotionally spill without being constrained by bars and rhymes. But they never send those letters, and then they convert the letter into a song.

Loved this!! I remember spending hours writing letters to my friends, pen pals and actually still have all the love letter I wrote to my now husband - and received from him! I used to get SO excited when I would go out to the mail box and there was a hand written letter in his handwriting!!! There is nothing like it!! I am so glad she is pushing to keep this dying art alive!!

Handwritten letters, they are most impactful to touch one's heart. I have recieved one from the boss of my boss' boss. Someone I hardly talk to for definite. And though maybe I was only one of many that has recieved it, I don't care, the impact on me is way amazing. It helps me built who I am.

This is an amazing talk. I love how she's show passionate about her topic. Some people, though I know they are passionate, doesn't let their passion show through much.

Thank you. I still write postcards and letters every season. I think it's so important to see written script, like love into ink to someone else.
