Nice presentation of Hans' game Robert, Hans is taking 1 month rest now to recover from the illness, so no flying (bad for ears) to Minorca, but he will play more tournaments and of course he is doing very well in T Tuesday! But he lost from you iirc? 🙂Thanks Robert...

Anyone notice the sequence at 2:33:20 on the finals broadcast on chess24 where the arbiter (I presume) approaches Hans’ board and gives him the eyes to come with him? Never seen that’s before during play in such a key game. Hans is seen walking back into frame about a minute later looking a bit purturbed. Wonder what that was about?

A really nice win for Hans! But now it's time to think of the true world-class players, ready to fight each other in the Candidates Tournament. A real pity Nodirbek Abdusattorov did not qualify. I would have loved to see him in action, especially against Fabiano Caruana (these are my 2 current favourite Top GMs). Thank you as always Robert! Marco EarlyJaques

Thanks for the game analysis. I was surprised someone distracted Niemann from playing during this important last round. Have you seen the sequence starting at 2:33:14 on kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hK54oLmktJfRgJ8.html ? Any explanation?

I dont know exactly what you mean, because he went walking? What I know is he had to play with ear infection, Tinnitis (ringing in ear) a lot of pain and anti biotics...

Hans played great, even with a double ear infection, he had to make a short draw because he had to see a doctor...

@@markhathaway9456 Ow, I thought he said he needed to be in time for the doctor (against Christopher Yoo). Erdogmus wanted the draw badly, so Hans had to take the draw to not end up with a worse position... But maybe I am wrong :-)

@@advandepol7537 Is Ok hehe, I dont know Paul personally, but I know him as a chessplayer for a very long time🙂 Once I was involved in making the clubblad of Volmac and later SV Rotterdam. Henny Vijgeboom was corrector -:) Now I need to watch the interview with Daniel to maybe understand the link with doping 🙂 Hans was only using Anti biotics for his ear infection BTW

Niemann played 9 matches and his opponents ratings were as follows: 1.game Sebastian Raum 2126 1 point, 2.game Cedric Chassard 2259 1 point, 3.game Ondrej Svanda 2370 1 point, 4.game Jonas Rosner 2431 1 point, 5.game Christopher Yoo 2583 1/2 point, 6.game Leonardo Costa 2479 1 point, 7.game Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus 2540 1/2 point, 8.game Frederik Svane 2617 1 point, 9.game Velimir Ivic 2582 1 point. Niemann being rated 2676 really should 5 games with relative ease, and the remaining 4 he would also be hot favorite to win. Frederik Svane from Germany rings a bell, and yes I have heard about Velimir Ivic as well, but to claim that Niemann had to broad field of really strong players is a bit of a stretch to be honest. And already he is bragging about it like he is the new World Champion.. That is Niemanns problem if you ask me! He just doesn’t know how to behave with dignity in the world of chess.. He factually has cheated in online games and even has admitted to it. In that sort of position he really ought to just lay flat down and sincerely apologize for his behavour, and accept that it will take time to earn trust again in the Chess Community. He chose to go the opposite way..

Hans to me is really the only player that is creative enough to trip up Magnus. The rest of the top players seem incapable. If only Bobby Fischer were alive and practiced on these engines. Magnus would be sent golfing.
