Oh, mon Dieu. Bonne journée :)

It doesn't seem to be the same hymn. I'm a native Bislama speaker and this hymn is in Bislama but sung by Solomon Islanders. Tok Pisin (Papua New Guinea), Pijin (Solomon Islands) and Bislama (Vanuatu) are variants of Melanesian Pidgin. These countries being in Melanesia. Melanesian Anglican brotherhood moved around these islands so it is highly likely that this Bislama hymn was shared in these islands. Beautiful hymn.

@KyleBarlow9310 жыл бұрын
I'm happy that this song is used in 'The Thin Red Line' and 'The Railway Man', in my opinion not enough people know about World War II in the Pacific Theatre of War. The Japanese were such a cruel militant people 68 years ago and when people refer to World War II they often focus on the European Theatre of War which upsets me. To endure such fear, pain and cruelty on an almost daily basis is what Allied forces were subjected under the Imperial Japanese forces. Granted that Hitler was a psychotic dictator whom murdered millions of innocents, the Japanese murdered millions of Chinese civilians before America entered the war but not many people seem to discuss said war atrocities which is a shame. We will never know those brave men who laid their lives down to destroy tyranny and install basic human rights to all who suffered the wrath of the Axis powers. On a more happy note, I think we can agree that this song is beautiful.
@SebCharnock10 жыл бұрын
"often focus on the European Theatre of War". Because that is the majority of the war right there; France, Britain, Italy, Austria, Russia, Germany, African annexed colonies (yes, I know that's a different continent itself, but the wars fought there were solely by the European powers), Netherlands, Poland, Greece, Norway, Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania etc... do I need to continue? Of course people are primarily going to focus their attention on what happened in Europe. If it weren't for the Battle of Britain (air dominance for the allies), Russia's massive armed forces and D-Day, the war would be completely in the over favour, no matter what happened in Asia/America.
@filipesan10 жыл бұрын
Kyle Barlow: I think that you raise an excelent question. I would argue that Hollywood, being an American enterpreneurship, focus both theaters in movies because american soldiers fought in both of them. But now that you mentioned it, I too feel that the amount of movies per theater of war is unballanced. I know a lot from the 3rd Reich from Hollywod movies, but not too much of Imperial Japan. Also, there is the question of the neutral point of view, as "history is told by the winners", but that is an issue for another discussion. And yes, the song is wonderful!
@viciousKev10 жыл бұрын
I think it relates to the whole victimization angle thats now the only politically correct way to view japan after the atomic bombs. Questionable use of 2 weapons negates 1000 years of sadistic cruelty in the public mind.

***** Vietnam? Try Iraq. As for the Native Americans, they lost the wars.

I think it's time to stop reading those American history books and start reading neutral ones. The Japanese were forced to attack the USA as the Americans boycotted their oil. The Americans, due to their terrible foreign policy brought the attack on themselves.

@@camillesoden2949 no. the power is not from the lyrics but the melody. Hans Zimmer is very talented in that.

I'm not a religious man, but this song brings me the closest to God that an atheist could ever get. Such angelic purity.

I'm in a production of Our Country's Good next week (wish me luck :p), and we're using this song as the closing number. After hearing it so many times, you'd think I would hate it. But there's something incredibly ethereal about the whole piece. What a hidden gem. Beautiful.

Andrea Provvedi Most likely translates to -Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my hands and let them move At the impulse of Thy love. Take my feet and let them be Swift and beautiful for Thee; Take my voice and let me sing, Always, only for my King. Take my lips and let them be Filled with messages from Thee; Take my silver and my gold, Not a mite would I withhold. Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in endless praise; Take my intellect and use Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose. Take my will and make it Thine, It shall be no longer mine; Take my heart, it is Thine own, It shall be Thy royal throne. Take my love, my Lord, I pour At Thy feet its treasure store; Take myself and I will be Ever, only, all for Thee.
