Because of some confusion in the comment section: There is a difference between the original composition by Hans Zimmer and his actual version for the entire movie. Zimmer's original compositions are mostly called "Suites" (e.g. "Jack Sparrow"/"Day One Dark") and are longer. "Tick-Tock" is such a piece which you can not hear exactly like that in the movie. The cutted version for the movie scene is called "Mountains".

Have to say that Tick-tock is one of my favorite in interstellar. The increasing of tempo from 60 to 120 like a speeding second hand signifies the flying of time, and the volume rises and falls like those gigantic waves on the planet.

Imagine being the organ guy waiting for 6 minutes and then messing up on the first note

This was a really nice arrangement! Many elements were beautiful, but I think it could be improved if those descending chromatic scales that start about 1/4 into the piece are reworked. They sound a bit out of place and a little awkward. Edit: for anyone still commenting -- Yes, I am quite familiar with the original piece and what the arranger was attempting to imitate with those scales. My opinion still stands. An important part of transcribing and arranging music for an instrument is understanding the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of said instrument you're arranging for. Often, techniques for a stringed instrument just do not translate well or aren't possible at all (vibrato, anymone?) on a piano. Remaining faithful to an orchestral piece when arranging for piano can have its strengths, but as I maintain here, it can also take away from the piece overall. Faithfulness to a piece for faithfulness' sake is not always beneficial. Again, I think the arranger did a great job capturing many of the other elements of the original piece -- the unknown, the wonder, the grand sense of adventure -- and the techniques used to evoke these emotions are executed well. It's a job well done and I generally enjoyed it -- I just don't love those descending scales.

Those weird descending notes killed it slightly in my opinion. I'll admit to goosebumps when the organ kicked in though!

Fantastic arrangement. I disagree with the criticism about the lack of organ. I think the long piano intro creates anticipation for the larger sound that the organ introduces. The moment when it does come is, sensibly, absolutely awesome. Great work.

Damn, this was portrayed so God damn well. Every little part was so well thought out, that when they were all put together it sounded kinda messy in that omnibus kind of way, and that's exactly how the original one sounded like. I love it. Also the skill, to be able to portray it so well, is amazing. I think they completely nailed it. Also a lot of people didn't seem to like the scales, but I feel the exact opposite. They gave that bottomless feeling of realization and despair when they saw the wave.

When I saw the comment from the uploader that this is a proper representation of the MUSIC and not the movie's soundtrack I realized I needed to change my expectations and I'm thoroughly surprised and how great this sounds. Few things to note: how about the EPIC sound quality of that silver boombox center stage? Thing was amazing in range! Also major applause to the two girls who are managing the sheet music at 6:25 -ish, well done keeping things moving.

I play this on piano but never have I seen 4 pairs of hands on a grand piano with an organist playing also! What fun!!!! Hands, fingers, toes going everywhere!

It's impossible. Instrumental piano music it's a mirror of age... of current reality. Set a classic example beside it and you could feel some different. Absolutely amazing. Piano could express the human's timeframe.

There should be more organ (even if just playing chords), that would make this more epic. Also the piano parts are a bit over complicated (as someone has said below) and end up sounding messy at times.

Pretty much proves Hans Zimmers ungodly superiority. It takes 5 musicians and 2 pageturners to operate 3 instruments and an oldschool stereo just to make a cover of his work.

I find absolutely amazing how you've been able to simulate the doppler waves effect from the original song, which was most likely originally added in post-production, by just playing it to make it sound that way.

i feel that the arrangement of this cover could have been much much better.. the idea u guys came up with is excellent.. having 4 piano players playing wide ranging sections of the peice simultaneously along with the organ! u guys interpretated this peice well, though it lacked the "interstellar feel" somewhere, which can reexist if the arrangement of ur cover is revised.

the arrangement is nice, but you guys really failed at maintaining the original composition's dynamics. sometimes it just feels like a nonsensical blur and theres little to no distinction between phrases. despite that, it's exciting to see 6 people at two pianos. reminiscent of steve reich's staging :)
