5:13 So based on what I know, the origin of Hanukkah is the story that Libby tells, and it goes that they only had enough oil to keep their lanterns lit for one day, but through a miracle, they managed to keep the lanterns going for eight days. This episode has a parallel to that, in that they only had enough fuel for one hour, but the generator ran for eight hours

Let's just take a second to appreciate that Libby's family seemed to be VERY close to getting caught up in a really REALLY dark time in history. Seriously, it's like universally accepted by the fandom that the fleeing was in response to Kristallnacht, and I don't really see another good explanation for the first part of the flashback.

Yeah, Libby’s mother’s name “Stein” is also apparently a German Jewish surname so their family definitely came from Germany at SOME point.

I'm both scared and anticipating when the Ghost Council and Chairman will next summon Scratch. I expect he'll be given an ultimatum or else it's the flow of failed phantoms. And then we'll learn if Scratch's "curse" is as strong as his friendship with Molly.
@bluebubble229
@bluebubble229 2 жыл бұрын
I think the ultimatum will be if he needs to hurt Molly like destroy Brighton and make everyone miserable or he goes to the failed phantoms. He is conflicted at first, but something happens, which makes Molly cry. We’ve never seen her cry. Scratch seeing her cry like actually sobbing decides he rather be in the failed phantoms for the rest of eternity than ever make Molly feel like that again.

With that moment where Andrea agreed with Molly I was looking forward to seeing Molly, Andrea, and Libby work together to save Christmas while developing a better friendship (or just a mutual understanding of each other) that would be further developed in future episodes since Andrea has mostly just been the bully character up to that point, but instead the focus was mostly just on the dad and a Christmas Carol parody of Scratch. However, the Hanukkah episode was amazing and became one of my favorites.

This episodes were great! Although the first one was way better for me, it was funnier and more interesting (I don't know a lot about jewish culture). The second one was a bit of a cliché imo, but still funny. I can't wait for this series to return! As you said, it doesn't need to have a large dark plot, this series is just colorful and cheering and funny and that's why I love it.

Great reaction! I kind of found this episode on the weaker side overall. In the first segment, I really enjoyed it, especially the hour 5 story from Libby, but I didn't really like what they did with Molly's character they made her look like she didn't even bother looking up anything about Hanukkah (haha different spelling), even tho one of her key character traits is being over prepared and over complicating things. In the second segment, I really like it as well, I really loved the way all the decorations just broke in a chain reaction, but I don't know it just didn't land that well for me, I can't even point to some specific point that isn't done well.

While I Don't Have Anything Against Those Who Ship Molly And Andrea, I Personally Find A Molly And Libby Ship More Realistic, Especially After What Andrea Did To Their Movie. I Get It, They Did Something Similar In The Owl House With Luz and Amity, Something I Ship Diehard! But At Least Amity Had Some Redeeming Qualities By This Point, So Far The Only Redeeming Quality Andrea Has Shown Is Agreeing With Molly About Her Dad Funding The Snowflake Celebration

6:40 Fun fact: it's actually unknown how the ancient Hebrew people actually said the name יהוה (Yhwh) as the spelling seems unpronounceable and the real way to say it was lost to time. We usually just say Adonai which roughly means "eternal" or "my lord". For example, on Chanukah we say: "Blessed are you, Adonai, our god, king of the universe. You hallow us with your mitzvot and command us to kindle the lights of Chanukah."

Hanukkah has always been a time I enjoyed. My childhood friend was raised Jewish and to my knowledge isn't a practicing Jew. Whenever he was with his mom for Hanukkah I would celebrate the holiday with them. Which was unfortunately only 3 times out of the 7 years I knew him. He would also celebrate Christmas with my mom my uncle and me. His father is Mormon so he would celebrate both holidays. And I loved how he saw Christmas from both viewpoints. As a Jew celebrating the birth of a Jewish man who claimed to be the son of the lord only to have him arrested and killed is kinda weird. But him also growing up in the Mormon church he understood the importance of Jesus. Jesus was a great man the son of God or not he did his best to help the people until he left this moral plane. And celebrating his birthday just for those reasons if you remove the Christian aspects makes a lot of sense. He also enjoyed it as a time where both sides of his family could be together and get along. His parents married and divorced during his first two years of life so growing up as both a Jew and a Mormon made him love both religions but also hate them as it caused tension between the two. So whenever they sat down for dinner on December 25th his Jewish family and his non Jewish family it made him happy. And btw this is how my jewish friend spells Hanukkah. So I apologize for not spelling it the "proper way". Even his great grandfather who fled Germany during the bad time spells it this way.

Yo, I'm down to answer any Jewish questions yall may have. yes, we refer to God as God but in prayer, we use a nickname similar to Muslims, instead of Allah we use Adonai. it's a respect thing as we aren't supposed to think of him as 1 thing because he's everything.

I’ve been enjoying the show quite a bit as well! A few things have been hit or miss for me, but overall it’s been incredibly cute. And I have to agree-so far the lack of an overall story arc hasn’t been bothersome to me, because there’s still at least *continuity;* emotional connections are allowed to grow and have a history, and past events do at least sometimes have a lasting relevance. Those are the biggest things that I always miss in truly 100% episodic shows, so at least to me, it really feels like this show has managed to find a pretty effective sweet spot in between the two extremes. As for what long-term stuff *is* there… I’ll admit I’ve been genuinely concerned for Scratch’s safety with that occasionally-touched-on subplot with the ghost council, hah. It’s never quite prominent enough to be a full-blown story arc, admittedly. And so far it’s been played as way less of a pressing concern than I thought it would be based on how prominently they set it up in the first few episodes. But I *am* curious where that’s eventually going to go… At any rate-I’m glad I decided to give the show a try, heh. So once again, thanks for your videos, since they’re what brought it to my attention! And it’s always really fun to see your thoughts on the show. :D (It’s really awesome to hear that the creators seem to appreciate your videos as well!) Might have to wait a while before fully catching up with your videos from here, sadly. I'm watching on Disney+, which doesn''t seem to have the most recent stuff! (Edit: Fixed typos from writing this up on my phone, hah.)

@@andrewvaldez8866 Im not the popular opinion, but I enjoyed it. You have to get past the out rage of the fans who reacted too early and know the story is not just about He-Man, its well drawn and they get to do things a kids cartoon can't get away with and its not nearly as woke as other things. the 2nd reboot you have to go in knowing that reboot number 2 is so completely different from He-Man that they just use the names every thing else is completely changed. If I had to rank reboots I would say She-Ra, early 2000s, Kevin Smith, CGI but CGHI's not finished yet and the Kevin Smith one can get upsetting if you don't finish all the episodes and just make assumptions. I won't spoil any farther.
