Highlights of the legendary former undisputed Heavyweight champion. The Brockton Blockbuster!
TikTok: / hanzagod_1
Rocky Marciano - Was an American professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1955. He held the world heavyweight championship from 1952 to 1956, and remains the only heavyweight champion to finish his career undefeated. His six title defenses were against Jersey Joe Walcott (from whom he had taken the title), Roland La Starza, Ezzard Charles (twice), Don Cockell and Archie Moore. Known for his relentless fighting style, formidable punching power, stamina, and exceptionally durable chin, Marciano is considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time.

The ultimate boxer. Marciano is what real fighting is about - scary, primal, pulverizing, tireless, fearless, always aggressive, always walking you down, relentless, killer instinct, as willing to take it as he is to dish it. He fought like something emerged from antediluvian times - asked no quarter, gave no quarter, step into the ring and may the best man win, devil take the hindmost. If you expected to beat him then you'd better kill him because anything less won't do it.

Rocky's conditioning was as big a factor in his success, as his punching power. He was a pioneer in aerobic training, running up to 10 miles a day. Without the conditioning required to sustain his non-stop power punching, he would have been out-boxed, and worn down by superior boxers. Coaches should use him as a model, to teach young fighters the value of hard training. Natural talent is fine, but can be overcome by endurance and tenacity.
@TheDocbach
@TheDocbach 8 жыл бұрын
+daniel higgins LOL... You couldn't possibly get a modern day heavy weight to run that much. Tyson said that running 4 miles a day was hell for him. Rocky was a product of his time and his situation. He was a 185 lbs man with slow hands and short reach. He had 3 things going for him. 1.) His chin was made out of some metal not found on Earth, 2.) His punching power which was absurd for a man his size and 3.) his conditioning, which was second to none. Conditioning was even more of a priority back then since the fights went to 15 rounds. Rocky really emphasized his conditioning since it was the one thing that most heavy weights couldn't possibly match him.

@@johnfairclough2998 You'd be surprised how far those two alone can take you, there have been plenty of fighters like Tex Cobb and Ricardo Mayorga who have gone very far on toughness alone. Rocky had skill but he is probably not even nearly as technical as you think he is somewhere in your mind. His conditioning won him fights, nobody had better conditioning than him. Most people think conditioning can't get you far because they have shit conditioning themselves and couldn't imagine doing what Rocky did, so they have to somehow mystify it and come up with things like "Rocky had some magic Ninja technique skills which is why he was so good, ain't nothing to do with his conditioning, chin or toughness, nuh-uh."

Little Marciano will always be my favorite fighter but I'm a realist that understands his limitations. @wasabi5338

if you mean genetically blessed when you said "freak of nature" you're wrong. Rocky was born as a sickly baby, had pneumonia and the doctor said it was entirely up to Rocky's willpower if he is gonna survive. He was also short for a heavyweight, barely made 190lbs, had a reach shorter than Pacquiao, had two left feet and had the smallest heavyweight champion fists. His work ethic and willpower is what made him a legend.

Another thing people overlook is that rocky started very late. He started boxing at 25 and had nearly no amateur career so lacked the experience by the time he fought as a pro. Another thing people overlook is in his fight against Louise, although Louise was past his prime at 37 Louise was still on an 8 fight win streak and rocky wasn't in his prime yet so actually joe nor rocky were in their prime when they fought.

He was the scariest boxer for me, everything about him really, and for one I wouldn't be in sonny listons or mike tysons weightclass, but marciano we're the same size and he's just far more of a man, and I admire him too, I wish I could be something like him someday and I'm really glad he laid the blueprint out for us who want to be somebody and I know he went through the same thing, when it comes to boxing alot of people quit halfway and Rocky he did the opposite

There is something mystical in the way he trains and fights. Many say that his style was awkward, certainly these are people who studied and practiced. As if I were in front of a work of art, I am instead hypnotized by the internal harmony of this athlete, by the humility of his work and the conviction of his own means that shine through in every single gesture, fused together without contradictions. In addition, from what I have read, we are faced with an extremely smart man, ahead of all his contemporaries in terms of attention to training and preparation, methodical and maniacal, he took care of everything. If the mental and character aspect is the only one that makes sense to compare between men of different eras and sports, there should be no hesitation in considering him among the greatest athletes of the 20th century.

Marciano was truly an all time great, i dont think he gets the credit for his defensive skills, and that hook of his was devistating he is arguably the best and is in my top three.

Idk why you guys argue about his defense...if you can take repeated punches to the head you don't really need defense, Joe Frazier, Jake LaMotta, George Foreman, Sonny Liston, and Rocky all had iron chins and could take anything their opponent threw

The leverage he got on his punches was tremendous. I admire His dedication to training and being in PEAK PHYSICAL CONDITION but what I think is his Heart kept Him from ever losing a fight. He was often behind in rounds. He was cut very badly in the Ezzard Charles fight this corner could not stop the bleeding. Cause He was Heavyweight Champion the Reff gave him 1 more round and he KO'D Charles to retain the title. He is THE BEST FIGHTER ever. Not boxer, FIGHTER.💪🙏

I watched a video recently where a guy broke down in slow motion Rocky's style. He showed that this style was perfectly created for Rocky and that it enabled him to not get hit with big shots but also put him in position to throw his bombs. In slow motion you could see how effective it was because shots that looked like he was taking he really wasn't and conversely how effective he was at offense. Great breakdown of Rocky If a guy like Uysyk is this competitive in the current heavyweight division how dominant would Rocky be?

It's really hard to compare a 184 lbs fighter like Marciano to someone like Fury who consistently weighs 270 +. Do I think Rocky is greater? Yes! Just not sure how he'd do against much bigger men like that. At Cruiserweight? Of course Rocky would be the best.

Marciano is and will be my favorite of all time and he didnt have mike tyson as a contender but it definitely would have been a hell of a fight even more so than him vs Ali if they were to meet and duke it out in my opinion there would be no foreman and no sittin on the ropes
