Like that it looks that extra care when into the design. Nice consistent well thought out features. With the gimbal it's probably less of an FPV plane, and more a work plane to capture cinematic images, or to do aerial monitoring. Having both options available shows flexibly of the platform.

I think you've gotten the Target Market wrong there. The ease of putting it together, without needing to know all the ins and outs of the electronics, this is aimed at small corporate and government use - farmers looking to survey crops, logger looking to survey forrests, Search & Rescue, councils doing over-flights and local mapping, such as for park maintenance, Police and Fire needing an easy to use platform for emergency incident response that can be put up well before a helicopter can arrive on scene, pubic event crowd management overview - the would cost less and present much lower risk to public compared to a big heavy and noisy helicopter over outdoor festivals, sporting events, protests. On top, this will appeal to 4WD KZfaqrs looking to step up from a Mavic Mini, or the outdoors camping folks on adventure tours. If that controller is easy to get video out of, I wouldn't be surprised to see these used for things like horse racing and rally/hilclimb motorsport, if it's really quiet, the horse folk will love it.

But why would any of the people in the industries you listed buy it over a DJI drone that takes off and lands automatically? There's a significant difference in skill level required to fly this vs a DJI drone, and that will put many people off, except us hobbyists who have those skills already. Unless they're planning on releasing a VTOL version.

@@r1m.dog78 Loiter Time. This can be put up and loiter for several times the flight duration of any multirotor. Search and Rescue can have it airborne for hours on the same size battery that has a Phantom or Mavic fly for 20 minutes. Fire can have it run laps of a location for the whole time they're on scene, and with that duration, they can get ordinance passed that makes the TV choppers stay out of the airspace when the Official Drone is flying. As for the flight skills, they'll be doing it the same way they do DJI products - set a line of waypoints and press a button. Hand Launch with Autopilot will do just fine for them.

Hi Lee, Great video and review of the HAO HAN Firefly. WOW ! Look at this one, I love that you have a case to keep it protected, but I have one concern, with the gimbal on the bottom when you land that it crushes it. Thanks again for the video and information about this airplane.

The Skua was awesome! but it had a crappy glass dome that was easily scratched and not optically correct.

Having just built 2.5 models over the past 3 months (slight build-fatigue) I'm drawn to this smart-looking, modular plane that just slots together. Also a gimbal that can look beneath is a bonus. Keen to see how it performs 👍

I love designs that prioritize true function over compromises to make our craft resemble full size ones, aka scale detail. The nav lights are the only tiny disappointment in that respect - the red, green and white pattern makes sense when you pilot a manned aircraft in busy airspace, but it has no real function in FPV. I would have preferred LED strips and a green marker, but I applaud everything else!

I love anything different like this, especially when it is well designed, which this does. My only concern, like others, is how vulnerable will that gimbal be when landing? Other than that is looks really good, love how it just clips together, and love the case. And a ready to go fpv package all in one case, very nice indeed.

Reminds me of old balsa ‘slow stick’ style planes.. About the name. If it’s like Bao Buns, that’s pronounced ‘Bow Buns’ (like ‘take a bow’ not ‘bow tie’)… so I guess it would be pronounced How Han…

Nice Kit. I love the rudder clicking into the servo arm that is just genius. I am a bit concerned about the landing of it with the gimbal right up front .... it looks very flimsy . All it needs is a spore drive 😄

Well you're right about one thing, it's not really about the looks, for me it's about the cost. I think it's perfectly named because like you said it's an odd looking plane, like Serenity off of the TV show Firefly. It totally reminds me of that ship.

hm, interesting servo mechanics in the tail (and in the wings too) - it has no lever. How effective is it?

Putting away the factor of landings, what I don't understand how it's even flying aerodynamically with such low CG. Motor thrust line should go through CG and it doesn't look like it is, moreover by changing battery, the position of CG would change in vertical direction so you would have to change motor angle. Compensating all this with elevator by ardupilot is not a very good idea

Stay tuned, flight video will answer a number of these questions. Lots of other models have wight below the wings and benefit from added stability. There is usually a thrust angle consideration though...
