FILM DESCRIPTION:
Collegian Tree Gelbman wakes up in horror to learn that she's stuck in a parallel universe. Her boyfriend Carter is now with someone else, and her friends and fellow students seem to be completely different versions of themselves. When Tree discovers that Carter's roommate has been altering time, she finds herself once again the target of a masked killer. When the psychopath starts to go after her inner circle, Tree soon realizes that she must die over and over again to save everyone.

The magnetic field emitted from a magnet gets exponentially weaker the farther you are away from it. Also the surface area of the material matters when something is attracted to a magnet. The wheel chair had a wider surface area and was really close to the magnet. While the screw driver had little surface area and not as much metal. Seems reasonable to me.

Just so everyone is clear.... MRI magnets are always on and there’s only an emergency stop button in the control room. Also the wheelchair that was already in the room would have been a non ferrous metal and wouldn’t have been in there in the first place. The ACTUAL way he would have died would have been far more interesting seeing how the chair and anything within range would have been pulled into the center of the machine and shredded or ripped apart by about 2,000 pounds of pulling force. sips tea*

Screwdriver is smaller, and magnet is stronger as you get close. She was expecting the sudden pull on the screwdriver, while the wheelchair was loose and had some distance to get up to speed

I just wanna point out that you can't really switch an MRI magnet on and off like this. When the magnetic field is once started, usually it isn't switched off during the entire lifetime of the machine, because that would involve quenching the superconductor by thawing it up, which is a rather violent and somewhat dangerous process, and restarting it costs a lot.

The door to the MRI machine would be locked and Tree never entered a password to get in. Second the glass between the office and MRI itself would be tempered and not shatter. It would be strong enough to prevent flying shards of glass if something did hit it. Cmon people.
