Happy Father’s Day Dad (Interpretation of 7 Years by Lukas Graham)

My Dad, Lance, has prostate cancer. My family wanted to give him a memorable Father’s Day surprise, so we re-wrote the lyrics to "Seven Years" by Lukas Graham. He thought we just happened upon a performance by St.Frantic in downtown Baton Rouge. He was surprised when I got on the mic to sing.
Thanks to St. Frantic for letting me sit in, Dr. Subudhi and M.D. Anderson for treating my Dad’s cancer, my mom and brother for helping out, tommysTV for capturing it all and, most importantly, my Dad for teaching me to never give up, no matter what. Happy Father’s Day.

My dad passed in 2016 I was 16 he had a lot of health problems I'm 23 now and just started trying to follow my dreams I know if he was here today would be my biggest supporter I miss him every day and I do my best to make him proud and to live the life he wanted my to have

I am very sure you are an honor to your Dad, I followed my late Dad into the Air Force with a goal to wear Staff Sergeant before discharging and was able to do. Dad was a Staff Sergeant when I was born in 1957!! I also followed my grand father's steps in becoming a Detention Officer which I retired from. Not a day goes by that I miss both of my parents now at 66 years old. My Mom lived to see me complete my career in the Air Force and helped my wife pin on my badge as a Detention Officer, she passed with Dementia not knowing I retired before she passed away!! I have them to thank for having a good life along with Jesus whom is my rock!! Mom also started that by inviting me to church with her!!!

For me, first, it was the courageous story about her father and brother that iniates the heart being pulled, 2nd was when the young child (@the time) opens her mouth to sing, what a lovely voice it is. So these combined together made my soul weep for their whole family. Another thing, imagine the sheer strength the mother must have to be there day in and out to take on additional responsibilities, to nurse her loved ones, to perhaps take on more financial deeds, to care for her daughter's needs as well though they may be different from others in the family. I can only hope and pray she's taking care of herself as well. As a loving mom, we tend to take on all kinds of rolls in life, including being the protector! It seems from an outside view in, that the hubby is still doing what he must as head of household. He seems deeply involved into his family. The brother seems to have a very kind soul as well, the little sister takes after him. I don't know any of them personally, but from watching various family videos, they're a lovely family.

I heard this for the first time 7 years ago (Coincidence, honestly). I absolutely loved it and saved it to a playlist that I somehow forgot about. I refound it again today and had to come and say I am still so impressed with this little girl. Such strength to be able to sing such a heartfelt song to her daddy knowing what they were going through with his sickness.

Singing girl Yeah, but why would they dislike. Sure, you can have your own opinion and not like her singing, but this girl rewrote a whole song to dedicate it to her dad so that he wouldn't give up and reunited him with all his friends. That itself is inspiring and amazing.

I lost my dad 1 month ago and when I heard this I cried I can't stand my life without my dad. He was my life! But now I have a boyfriend that is my life but I still miss him Right now I'm in a long distance relationship my boyfriend lives in Maine and I live in Texas. My boyfriend visits me every other week and we FaceTime everyday but since I don't see him a lot I'm afraid something is going to happen to him. My boyfriend all ready has cancer and the doctors said he wouldn't live long. My dad was only 36 when he died he would've been 37 today. My dad died in a train wreck where the train ran into another train and flipped over. He would only lived if we took him to Canada but we couldn't because we had no money until my mom started working as a real astate agent. Guys please pray for my family an my boyfriend!!!!!! I really need so much help!😭😭

Kate, what a great performance! I lost my dad more than 20 years ago to cancer and I still miss him more everyday. I don't spend much time thinking about those 20 years that he has been gone I chose to think about the time I had with him. He was special because he was my dad! My wife was his oncology nurse and really loved him like a dad also. God bless!

This just hit me so hard.😢 2 months ago my family and I lost my dad/husband/grandpa to cancer, he died on February 9, 2022. Feb 9 is my grandma birthday and he died on her birthday. Kate, you have an amazing singing voice, I hope that your dad is still alive, if not I am so sorry. Cancer sucks.

My father had a girlfriend and had two kids with her; a boy and a girl. Several years later, he broke up with her bc she was abusive and married my mom after meeting her at his work. Later on they had me and I was three when my brother graduated (he was the younger one) and he didn’t invite us. My sister got married. Didn’t invite us. My father didn’t get to walk down the aisle with her bc she didn’t want him there. My father loved them both with all his heart and hearing those words hurt him so badly he is now an alcoholic. My brother got married. Same deal. He drank so much. My sister had her kids. Haven’t seen them. At all. Her oldest is 5 and her youngest is 4. They have never met me. It was my thirteenth birthday 3 days ago. I wanted them to come over. Just them. They said if my dad was going to be there, they wouldn’t come. OUR FATHER. I told them fine. Don’t come. Because if you want to disrespect your dad because of something that happened over 20 years ago I don’t want you here. Last night I cried about it. And now we are here.
