Notice the third time the chorus comes around there's no "he said". He's saying it himself, that he's keeping his father with him. It's just beautiful.

I lost my father in 2009 at the age of 89. I miss him so much. I don't think you ever stop missing them. I've been crying for days. Every few years my Birthday fell on Fathers Day. I miss not sharing it with him anymore. 😢

This describes me and my father to a tee. My dad is 91 years old and it's just me and him together now. I take care of my dad and I tell my dad I'm sorry for the way I acted growing up and I tell him I love him everyday. We ended up being best friends and we make each other laugh. I cherish everyday I have with him. Thank you for this video !!!!!!

My Mom loved listening to Conway. My Mom lost her Dad when she was young and having her young children and I'm sure this hit her.

Amber & Jay, this is such a beautiful song. The lyrics are hitting home with me, as I lost my Father at the age of 22, 42 years ago. My Father was the one I looked up to, and he was instrumental in my becoming who I am and the profession I chose. The emotion in Conway Twitty’s voice has me in tears. Jay, you ARE a great Father and Husband, and you set a great role model for your wonderful children. Happy Fathers Day.

i listen to songs like this and *dream* what life would have been for me, if my father had been allowed to raise me. It would have been so different. He loved me, I was his little girl, but they stole me, and I didn't get to experience my Father's love growing up. So.. I dream about it.. songs like this take me there. xo

That breathe was probly him being relieved that he made it thru it without breaking up while at the same time thinking of his own father. This song always brings a tear to my eyes. My birth father was an alcoholic an I lived in a children's home. An I didn't have him in my life much then. But I was blessed to have had the last 5 or so years to bond with him an understand more his pain that he carried with him since he was 16. An those last few years he didn't drink. U guys r awesome always. Oh an it was fun watching Amber fighting back tears

I went back to last year 1st and listened to Daddy's hands which was a great song for Father's Day and here again a great song. I feel for you Amber I truly do. I was the only lucky one of my father's 8 children that he had the chance to see get married. I was young 16 but my Father signed for my marriage. Then 2 months later he died. Now 50 plus years later he missed everything he and my mom created thru their loins. We're talking a huge family thru his 8 children and thankfully my mom is still alive today at 91. So many years that have passed but I still remember the day he gave me away. Happy Father's Day, Jay

My Dad was a musician and would sing this often. I wasn't there when he died because I was burying my Father in Law. This means the world to me. BTW Conway was a wonderful man. Dad sang with him many times.

My father passed on his 57th birthday in 2019. We hadban estranged relationship for over a decade, but I was lucky enough to see him and we were able to clear the air before his passing. I consider myself blessed for that.

I just lost my pup of 16 yrs on New Year’s Day. He does before I could get home. I feel so guilty. When he said “How will I go on with you gone this way…” hits me so hard. Bc I tried so hard to take care of him. And he died. My best friend died. And I know it’s a dog but he was mine to care for. He gave me loyalty and unwavering love. No matter what. One of the best things God gave us was animal companionship and the cruelest thing is taking them away.

I lost my daddy on May 4,2023 an we played this song while everyone saying their goodbyes an closing of casket. This song fits my dad to a tee. I moved to Michigan from NY an when it didn't work out 6mnth later I called my dad told him I wanted to come home. He stopped everything he was doing an made 18hr trip to come get me with no questions asked.

I am so blessed that my son and my sons in law are super great Dads. It makes me breathe easier as my family is so far away. It has been two years now where I get to fill Father's Day with special memory of my own Dad. I miss him so much, especially when I would like some advice or to share in some celebration. He made it all the way to 90 but that is still not long enough for me. Miss him so much

I remember my father saying how much he missed being able to talk things over with his father. His father had passed ten years earlier at the age of 94. It has been 14 years yesterday since my father passed at age 89 and my birthday is tomorrow. We shared my birthday snd Father's Day every few years so my eyes have been watering since Friday. You never stop missing your Dad.

My uncle toured with Conway in the 70s and 80s. Got to hear this song in person many times. I was just a kid but it didn't hit me much back then. But now I know I don't have many years left with my dad. Lost my mom about 5 years ago. It's hard to imagine, but we really take for granted how much our parents do for us in our lives.

virtually any song by Conway is a beautiful well done song. very few singers could even come close to matching let alone exceeding the way Conway sang. he was my dad's favorite singer and we played this song at my dad's funeral on Memorial day weekend just a little over a month ago.
